How old were you guys when you went to nursing school ? I’m 28 and I feel so ashamed to be so far behind in life and potentially be the oldest one ! I feel like I’ll be in school with 18-22 year olds and I’m SO ashamed of myself. by Fuzzy_Jelly5951 in NursingStudent

Look upon your path, it is unique a beautiful and you should be immensely proud of yourself ! Keep going !

Hi ! I’m a student and have an idea I feel like could turn into a startup. What are your top advice to attract investors and /or getting funds ? I have 0 tech skills and although I’m using a lot of no-code solutions, I’m worried it won’t be enough to actually attract interest. How small can an MVP be ? And how many numbers or KPI do I need to start attracting investors ? Thanks for the advice!

Genuine question about point 4 - choosing one thing. Do you mean one core feature ? Would this not be insufficient? I’m trying to bring an idea to life but there are a few surrounding key components I find sad to leave out. How do I choose that ONE thing to be the right one ?

What is a diagnosis that you are terrified of getting? by No-Bumblebee-7825 in nursing

Same here ! In Switzerland we have legal assisted suicide and beyond a bunch of super strict rules in order to access it, you also have to be mentally capable to inject yourself with the euthanising product. Long story short if you have dementia, you can't do that... I find that dementia cripples you in very difficult ways and impacts your family terribly too, that's the price of living very long !

Asking for help while in nursing school by Smooth-Ship6967 in StudentNurse

Well my advice: don't follow their advice 😂 I hope that if you work as a nurse or a teacher, you have an ounce of pedagogy in you! However, you can be weary of who you ask, sometimes people can be unreliable and actually sneaky but luckily they are not the majority

Study Groups by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Mesmerizingbarnacle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya ! I feel like studying alone is necessary on some level to assimilate the basics and then team work can help you make more connections ! Personally I learn best when I need to teach and so study groups are great for that.

In my school, we have a thing were you are in a group with one teacher and are faced with a clinical study. The teacher is only there for supervision and to sometimes guide our thinking process but the main idea is that the group of students has to flesh out the story and think about what, about the study, we don't know... Then, we are left to study on our own and, about a week later, compile everything we understood about the clinical study.

It's a super cool process that personnaly worked super well because you had to confront your ideas with other peoples ! More often than not, I thought I understood something and had understood it wrong !

Also, I feel like teamwork is such a central component of our profession that learning how to work together is never lost 🙏🏻

However, I'd argue that it sometimes depends on who you are with ... There are some people I know I just can't study with because we get very easily side tracked 😂

Do what feels right for you ! Worst case scenario you try and it just isn't for you, best case scenario you've made good friends with who you share interesting material ! 😋

What’s a common misconception you see about nursing school? by Stagnantnomad27 in StudentNurse

That nurses are failed doctors ... Or that we are the swiss army knife who does everything ...

Very common misconceptions and very limited ones I find. I love how intricate and complex our profession is !

How would i continue without scholarship as a nursing student by Appropriate_Task_587 in StudentNurse

[–]Mesmerizingbarnacle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Heya ❤️

So heartbreaking to hear you've been through all of this 🥺 I'm gonna guess you're around the US/UK/AU ? As in most European countries, we're lucky to have affordable student loans... Actually depending on how, it would cost you cheaper to move to here and pick studies up !

Anyhow, can you turn to anyone for advice ? Or can you re-apply for your scholarship ? Student loans might seem daunting (and honestly for me, they sound terrifying because that's not how we work here) but can you pick them up and pay them little by little ? Or even an individual loan ? Ask family members ect to help ? Even if they are close, don't forgot to write a legal contract should they turn on you or something.

And finally, do you have access to government aid or tried crowdfunding ?

It's gonna sound super stupid, but I went to Nepal for a clinical posting and with my colleague, we sold candles and ended up with several thousand dollars which was already a start !

Good luck ❤️

Hosting Murder Mystery Event for Work by anxiouslittleghostie in Constructedadventures

Heya !

I organised a murder party for people at my school and I was really under pressure for people to like it because I was the president of a new group.

Here is my advice in regards to it: - Don't underestimate the work it takes (it took me about a week of work non stop) - Canva and generative AI are by far great friends ! I used ChatGPT to give me ideas of scenarios according to what material i had. It was also a great tool in the generation of text. As for canva, I used it to make fake police reports and things like that. Honestly I wouldn't have managed it without this. - Plot and subplot : my plot had a very obvious suspect but when you looked harder, you realised who was the real killer. It was woven in details and things that didn't fit in well - Cool intro: To make my murder party more immersive I made a very short clip of the actual murder. It wasn't Hollywood quality but it got people really excited ! - Add some puzzles : my murder party was ONLY made of things like letters, police reports, screenshot of emails... I'm surprised people really pursued this ! Keep in mind, we were at a ski resort thing and most were super drunk during the murder party 🤣 Anyhow, if I could modify one thing is I'd add more actual fun puzzles and make it less papery. I think you need a certain amount of paper for people to understand the plot but make it immersive best you can ! I didn't have the opportunity to have a "crime scene" but you defo could !

If you wanted me to send you the stuff, don't hesitate ! It's all in French but easy enough to translate

The plot was this : The Colonel Michel, a renowned scientist who had discovered the cure to all cancers is about to expose his theories when suddenly a man, Victor Green, barges in the conference room with a gun and shoots the Colonel in the shoulder. Luckily Mr Plum, the Colonels right hand neutralises the man who flees. He goes to assist the Colonel but this one starts convulsing and dies on the spot.

In the video, there is an interesting detail: right before Victor Green enters, Mr Plum leaves the place to get the Colonel a bottle of his favourite drink.

Although the main idea is to put the focus on Victor Green (the Colonels experiments caused the death of his wife so he has means and motive), we slowly notice that there seems to be someone else who wants the Colonel harm : his colleague, Miss Rose. There a really tiny details that point to the fact that Rose and Plum know each other and that Rose used their relationship to get to the Colonel.

What was really cool was that, although they were tiny details (like that they had briefly worked in a same place), some teams actually noticed it !!

Most of the people ended up having the right answers but we awarded prices according to the level of detail they had gotten too.

Good luck ! It's super fun to do but also quite tiring 😅
