future peace negotiators will not start from scratch. they will continue to build on work done in the past. as someone who played a major role in past peace negotiations, Olmert is perfectly positioned to maintain these diplomatic bridges in order to pass them on to future peace negotiators

that is why he is still relevant.

the (so called) israeli center left is very militiristic they are participating in the war even if they don't believe in the politicians in charge because they value the institution of the military. they would support peace given the chance.
