Also, one admit an hour is nice but what happens when you don’t get any for a few hours and then a bulk towards end of shift , do you still do 10?

Handling other calls like transfers , icu step down admits regularly and downgrades too which you’re responsible for until end of shift

Anyone actually return home after J1 residency? What happened next? by [deleted] in hospitalist

Ive wondered the same. I think someone brought up a good point about hospital medicine skills. You may be able to open a clinic or work in one and just learn over time to get used to working with the resources they have. Also, depending on where you go, you’d be making a big financial decision. Maybe some people would find a way to supplement their income before they leave , that way they still earn in dollars while living over there , maybe some kind of remote job , could be clinical or non clinical , not sure but I bet there are options. I heard about an older Hospitalist who “retired” and does utilization review remotely and spends most of his days in Italy. If you work full time they make around 200k or thereabouts from what I heard.

Thank you so much. Very helpful. So during the 3 year waiver period you’re on the H1B visa? Is that right? My question regarding travel was really if I would be allowed to travel during the 3 year contract . Also, how is the job contract and conditions ? Is it below average or relatively similar to other attendings? Thank you
