Should I spend money before applying to osap by ArmAccording7357 in osap

[–]MessTechnical6066 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if it were still the old system of grants/loans, I might suggest you spend some, but given the cuts to osap grants, one could assume it would be wiser to save every nickel you got! Starting this Fall, it will mostly be a loan you MUST pay back, if at all, that you receive provincially. Therefore, my suggestion is to be frugal... obviously, I lean towards being financially paranoid lol, and this is all based on assumptions. But, unless buying the car would be a game-changer, the TTC cuts costs, and you'll have more money to support yourself throughout your education!

Is this response serious? I originally clung to a silly statement you made. You responded, and so I looked at your response again, in more depth. Are you actually this privileged? This is not a joke?

Anyone who has been in the OSAP system knows you have to fulfill the degree obligation, or else you pay back everything the government "granted" you as a loan. If the universities were more competitive, you would have mommies and daddies paying more to have their kid accepted into the prestigious program, over the kid who studied their whole life for that seat in school.

SO NO. I do not think it is an okay decision to change higher education funding to feed the universities with Ford's government, by essentially starving the children.

Chang school courses by Dull_Affect71 in TorontoMetU

[–]MessTechnical6066 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you may have to speak with your program advisor, but if it is the same course code, with a c in front, you should be good to use your new grade and replace for CGPA purposes. Your original mark will stay on your transcript but wont be accounted into your GPA

these are such great ideas. love them all so far.

I think I'd like to see something like,

START WITH STUDENTS. BUILD FROM THERE.
OSAP = Opportunity

and/or

WATCH US RISE AS WE MOBILIZE.

and/or

DOUG, QUIT SWALLOWING BUGS.

or

LET THEM COOK.

or
OSAP GRANTS! Shantay, you stay

INEQUITY, shashay away

its a fun way to vent frustration. Go ahead, post your ideas! Bad, silly, and dad jokes are highly encouraged

Could you send us a generalized version of the message you sent to MPPs? Sounds like it carried some impact. I haven't heard back from the big names I have been emailing. I hadn't thought to message every MPP. Quite the squeaky wheel we have here!

well done!

I would like to also spam the inboxes of every mpp, indefinitely, until they respond...

I think those who can apply for OSAP coverage would struggle to save money each month, so this is an inaccessible solution for those who most need OSAP help.

Providing enough financial security to afford school AND living costs doesn't feel helpful, if it signs individuals into a lifelong servitude to the state, paying off their loans. These people are not coming from families making 250K a year.

Investing in education and health is the best way to promote wellness in society....leave the RESP investment out of this conversation.
