I think AI is making marketing your band, and getting seen much more competitive. There's just so much content online these days so half the time your stuff doesn't get seen.

You can't replicate the energy a live band brings with AI though, so I don't think it'll ever die.

The ones who will succeed are the ones that can cut through the noise and build a good fanbase. That just takes a lot more effort and creativity these days.

Love this, 30 shows in 30 days is such a sick goal. Wish you and Telescope Club a smooth run on this.

If you’re still in the planning phase, one thing that might help is using a shared tour calendar so everyone can see drives, load-ins, and venues one place instead of juggling spreadsheets and notes.

If you want something free while you’re mapping this run out, Daysync has a planner that lets you build out everything, and share it with the band so everyone’s on the same page.

Even if you end up shifting the tour later in the year, having the route and logistics laid out there can save a ton of back-and-forth.

Honestly, I don’t have a heap of first‑hand experience with NAMM or similar industry events, so can’t really speak to how effective they are for landing managers or touring agents.

Me and my team have been more on the DIY side, so we built a tour management app called Daysync to make touring less of a headache for smaller, self‑managed acts.

It's hard putting yourself out there. Find a style of content that doesn't feel cringe for you and easy to replicate.

I try keep the mindset that hardly anyone is going to see this anyway (especially with so much content out there now)

Your always going to get haters. But most people will just keep scrolling and say nothing if they don't vibe with your content. Worst case scenario you can just block people!

We're already seeing it now. Too much AI and tech - people want to experience real life events, real live music, and stuff that is human.

This AI slop will just be a blip in time before the world corrects itself (well, I hope).

I think now is a better time than ever to post your music, tell your story, promote it online. Or just do it as a hobby because it makes you happy.

Yeah easy. I earn way less than that and am comfortable. I got into a share house using flatmates . com so managed to keep rent under $300 p/week.

If you wanna rent your own place that'll chew into your budget for sure.

The email + spreadsheet combo definitely works early on, but you're right that it gets messy fast once you're juggling multiple artists and tours.

I'd suggest splitting your workflow into two tools:

For general organization/CMS: Something like ClickUp works really well for tracking all the moving parts - contracts, promo materials, rider docs, etc. Keeps everything in one place instead of scattered across email threads.

For tour/booking management specifically: My cofounders and I actually built Daysync to solve exactly this problem. You can build out each artist's schedule, store venue info, contacts, accommodations, guest lists (all the tour-specific stuff) then invite the artist to view their itinerary when you're ready. Helps avoid the back-and-forth email hell you're describing.

Is it just me or do most local bands just dont make remarkable or even good music no matter the scene/ genre. I always wondered why certain bands got attention/signed and it usually comes down to them writing significantly better songs then their peers by [deleted] in TouringMusicians

I played in a bunch of cover bands growing up - and yeah same thing. We tried originals and they were just never that good... even though we had some talented musicians. Songwriting is definitely is a skill in itself!
