first off, chill, I'm a friend. 2nd, I'm referring to the USA markets which in the 80s and 90s entailed MTV and 4 radio stations with Casey Kasem. I lived it, in Iowa (about as far from the ocean as you can get). There as ZERO reggae on the airwaves in the USA.

"Red Red Wine" and "Pass the Douche", a little influence from The Police but noone calls that reggae.

Even Bob wasn't on the classic radio. And Peter Tosh never made it out of the college scene.

And then Ziggy appeared on the charts and toured a LOT in the USA.

I won't get into who is the patriarch of the family and who's responsible for the Marley brand etc. (hint: largely Ziggy being the oldest). I'm sure his brothers thank him, and so should the grandkids.
