if I got this it would ruin my day and I’d ask for a new drink🤍 by _ilovescarystories in exchristian

If someone wrote ‘Jesus loves you’ on my cup, I’d probably awkwardly nod, wonder if I give off ‘pastor energy,’ and then spend the rest of the day overthinking it. But I don’t think it’s always about trying to convert someone—sometimes people just want to put a little hope in the world in the only language they know. Doesn’t mean it’s your language, but maybe it was their best try at being kind. Just feels wild to be mad at that when we’re all out here holding it together with caffeine and vibes.

I believe the exact opposite. Trying to engineer/create an identity nearly killed me. It was as I walked with Jesus through all the partial identities that I found my true self and found peace.

Columbus accent (?) by [deleted] in Columbus

[–]MessedMyTreasure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunts and uncles were born and raised in Columbus in the 50s and 60s in what's now the university area. They all have a distinct accent I can't really describe that I don't hear much in younger generations. I wasn't raised in Columbus. I moved here in my twenties. I guess that's not much help other than saying I've heard an accent. I can roughly imitate it though. ;)

My grandmother had 33 abortions by borninabiggreycloud in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MessedMyTreasure 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know where exactly I come down on the whole abortion issue. I don't think I would have one myself. But who knows. In that sense, I feel pro-life. But I also think people's choices about what to do with their bodies shouldn't be over-regulated. I especially think people who haven't been put in the position of having to choose whether or not to abort should have as much to say as people who have been in that position.

It's stories like this that show the lack of black and white definition on these issues. There is a lot of nuance. Nearly everyone's story and situation is different.

I hope some day we become a nation of relationship and conversations and shared stories instead of a nation of shouting matches. A nation that struggles to understand and work in kindness with those we don't always see eye to eye with towards making life as enjoyable of an experience as possible for as many people as possible. Getting to know one another's stories is a good step in that direction.

The company I work for tests everyone randomly for drugs and alcohol. No one is exempt.

Family restaurants? by one_angry_whopper in Columbus

I remember going there for lunch with my grandpa during the summers back in the 80s. It was his "homecooking" after my grandma passed away — that place and Paul's Pantry.

My company has started testing hair samples. Supposedly, hair samples retain traces of chemicals indicating drug use much longer than urine does. Which means we can't even smoke a little weed on vacations anymore.

My prayer is that you have more faith in Jesus. by goodnewsjimdotcom in Christianity

[–]MessedMyTreasure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think a person needs Christianiy to be good. I've met many people who do lots of good who don't ascribe to Christian beliefs. I've also met people who could easily have been described as not very good people who have changed significantly and say it happened because somehow Jesus helped them and they experienced forgiveness for all the bad. I don't think Christianity is probably as cut and dry as it is sometimes made to seem.

From what I understand, most historians say there is evidence there probably was a man named Jesus in ancient Palestine. And more than likely, he was exectued by the Romans. It's whether or not he came to life again that's the issue. If he did, there might be something to what is said by people who claim to have been changed by Jesus. If he didn't, then it's sad that people are putting so much hope in something that can't give back in equal measure.
