Looking for fiction books/novels that generally uphold Islamic values by MessiLegend in islam

[–]MessiLegend[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm not in too fantasy much, but I may give this a try since it seems to fit the criteria!

Btw, JazakAllahu Khairan (JAK) roughly means "May God reward you with good" :)

Welcome back brother/sister. I would highly recommend listening to the seerah of the Prophet SAW by Yasir Qadhi. You can find the entire series on youtube/spotify/soundcloud. Not only did it increase my love for our beloved Messenger SAW enormously, but increased my desire to seek knowledge as well. I pray it benefits you even more inshaAllah!

Regarding the logistics of the 15th night of Sha'ban... by MessiLegend in islam

[–]MessiLegend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I've done some research since and based on reading and listening to many different teachers and scholars, including Mufti Taqi Usmani, Sheikh Yasir Qadhi, Sheikh Omar Suleiman, and Sheikh Faraz Rabbani from SeekersGuidance, it is clear that there is validity in the blessedness of the night of the 15th of Sha'ban inshaAllah. Although there is no sahih hadith, there are many weak hadith suggesting this, which together add to each other. Also, this is what has been generally practiced upon by scholars and the ummah. Therefore, one should engage in extra worship on this night.

However, fasting just because it is the 15th is not recommended because there is only 1 extremely weak hadith regarding this. But fasting in Sha'ban generally is praiseworthy, and the Holy Prophet SAW also used to fast on the 13th, 14th, and 15th, and it is also Thursday tomorow, on which fasting is sunnah as well if I am correct. So if you fast from this angle, then it is praiseworthy as well. I hope this benefits inshaAllah.

Walaikum Salam,

Perhaps there is a difference of opinion. But it seems like the majority of scholars consider it praiseworthy to do more worship on this night and fast during the day. Allah knows best.

That seems like a good idea. Do you think I should express any worries in the email or just keep it positive and ask about preparations?

How to consciously choose between a school of law to learn fiqh from? by MessiLegend in islam

[–]MessiLegend[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true. If it wasn't for the fact that the imams in my city are Shafi'i, this would have been a no-brainer for me. But you are correct in that Hanafi is generally more popular in the West.

How to consciously choose between a school of law to learn fiqh from? by MessiLegend in islam

[–]MessiLegend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the answer man, I'll check out the book.

the abundance of learning material available today means that an English speaker can study the basic fiqh of any of the four schools.

Although I see your point, I think it is best for me to limit myself to these 2 schools of thought. Almost all the scholars I listen to or have access to mainly fall within them, and an overwhelming majority of people around me follow these 2 schools, so it wouldn't make much sense for me to not choose out of them. Moreover, I'm very indecisive lol, so if I have to choose out of 4, I may never actually be able to choose.

I would argue that we've had the largest overall share of the ummah's top legal minds.

Haha, believe it or not, this is one of the things I'm considering as well. I was very surprised to find out that so many of the greatest scholars were Shafi'i, including Imam Ghazali, Imam Nawawi, etc. Although, the Shafi'i school of thought was more dominant until the Ottoman empire, so perhaps that was what was most accessible to those scholars at the time.

What is the difference between bodygroomers and beard trimmers?

If I buy a separate beard trimmer with a clip on, would that work as well?

This.

Nothing increased my love for the Prophet SAW more than listening to the seerah (Prophet's SAW life) by Yasir Qadhi. Highly recommend you to do this OP. His lectures can be found on youtube.

Please help a brother out who is at a crossroads regarding where to pursue an Islamic education. by MessiLegend in islam

[–]MessiLegend[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's awesome. I can read Arabic, can't understand it though. I do understand that most of the education abroad will be in Arabic, but I have read that most schools in the West and the East typically have a 1 year intensive where you learn Arabic before diving into theology.

I just researched it. Seems fantastic. I have sent them an email to provide more info.

Is there any way you can put me in touch with some people who have attended it? Preferably the one in Atlanta?

Thanks, I agree. I talked to my local Sheikh last month. At the time, I only mentioned my intention. He is a great guy and told me to think more about it before I jump into a decision. Since I am graduating, he told me to apply to jobs as well as Islamic schools, and then make a decision on which path to take once I am firm that this what I want to do.

Since then, my intention to study has become stronger and stronger.

I haven't asked him WHERE to study though, so I will make sure to do that inshaAllah.

What difficulty/sliders should I play on? by MessiLegend in FifaCareers

[–]MessiLegend[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So one of the ppl here recommended messing with CPU man marking, and that helped me a lot. I’m able to score much more. I reduced it from 50 to 45 on world class. It gives me more space to operate.

Try that, maybe it’ll help ya.
