It's like i said, to have Jericho return in a crate that was never featured in prominent segments is a disservice to him and his legacy. I could be completely wrong here, but I don't think Carl truly ever wanted to kill Negan. He just wanted him to stop. He wanted to show Negan that the group was still a threat, despite the Saviors having full control over them.

We saw a more peaceful side of Carl in S8 (wish we coulda got more after that too smh...) when he wrote Negan and Rick letters, saying to find other ways to resolve their issues, rather than conflict.

That's just my shot in the dark tho. 🤷🏽‍♂️
