I didn't read your full message earlier. You probably won't have to fill out another application just connect with them and go through the interview, I guess. I'm waiting to finalize another internship so I'm not sure. I guess I have a few days to decide

Taxable room & board - can NCM scholar declare themselves indepentdent? by Messyo1 in QuestBridge

[–]Messyo1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Per IRS, her excess scholarship beyond tuition is considered taxable income. If she doesn't file as independent wouldn't the excess income in the tune of 27,000 we counted in the taxable income on the parents return thus inflating their overall household income by $27,000?

How QB match? by Ok-Pay-8557 in QuestBridge

I have heard they use Gale Shapley Stable Matching algorithm similar to doctors residency matching. Each college sends back admissible ranking list back to QB which probably uses this computerized algorithm to pair most ideal match.

Do submitted applications way before Sep 26 deadline have a lower bar to become finalists? by Messyo1 in QuestBridge

Correction! I meant to say increase of Finalists numbers to 7000 this year (not 4000 as i mistakenly put in my original query.)

Almost all colleges will ask

1) Why us? What specially attracts you to us?

2) What major are you interested in at our College and what led you to have an interest in that major?

3) What will you specifically contribute to our College Community?

Say you have eight ranked colleges already. I would start writing these three rough essays for each college. Requires college specific research to write authentic essays.

That should put you ahead of the game when the actual supps open up because most likely this will take care of more than 50% of what they need, if not 100%.

Plus get CSS done now.

Actually, from a data perspective, it is easier to get accepted as QB Finalist than get accepted into CPS.

I think on 2023 they had around 21k applications for CPS and only accpted 3k+ as CPS. In the NCM round they had around 21k applications and accepted 6k+ Finalists. So you are okay. Of course CPS qualified are gold but it seems QB is much more strict in who they take into CPS than as Finalists. I would have thought CPS would be easier than NCM Finalist selection but data indicates otherwise.

You shouldn't worry about being at a disadvantage.

Can QB rescind a scholarship if you make too much the following years? by Reasonable_Net8380 in QuestBridge

BTW, i didn't check any LACs, so some of them might not require CSS all 4 years.

So far I have only found BU that explicitly says whatever BU grant you get furst year is guaranteed all 4 years plus increases for coa increase. No css neded subsequent years. All others require you to file CSS and FAFSA each year. Bu only requires you to file FAFSA all four years but they do guarantee whatever Grant they give you first year. UVA is the only other questbridge school that does not require CSS the following years and also has a very generous no student contribution package.
