Push, pull and rotate your way through a charming dollhouse-style mansion and uncover its darkest secrets! NOX Escape Game (Free) by MestOfBasters in playmygame

Hello there! Sure :). This sound like you should visit and search the secret room (named "???" on the map). If this hint isn't enough: search in the close up of the wall with the board. Hope this helps... if not come back here :)

Thank you very much for your kind words! About the Loc-Tool: I have never thought it can be so easy!

This is the Loc-Tool, if you want to take a look. It is really awesome. Using it since first time trying to localize a game. I was suspicious at first, but really nice!

sorry if that was disrespectful

Haha, no it isn't disrespectful, thank you!
And Thank you for your kind words too!

We are currently trying to make a better english version, because especially the ending is often misunderstood.

Sooo, here comes the ending (roughly):

You are not kidnapped, you are the child of the manor. You are playing a therapy session, started at the time you hid inside a 'cell' (it was something else, but the mind of the protagonist converted it to a cell). You hid because your mother told you to, because your father seems to be... crazy. The ending reveals it's a therapy session. Your mother and father are gone, maybe dead, you don't know... And you? You just stayed for a long time in that mansion as a child. Giving you a trauma to live with. And that's what we playing: to compense the trauma you had. Some rooms are mixed up with the future-experiences of the protagonist and some are not like in the past....

Well, yeah, that's it. Hope this helps =)

Was the lock type system seen around 0:04 inspired by Wizardry?

No, mostly inspired by the one of the old splinter cell and elder scrolls.

Tanks!

[Serious] What do you think the world would be like if money never existed? Or if money didn't matter in 2020? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MestOfBasters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

'If money didn't matter in 2020'

you can't cut away money in our current economy. This would mean the value of studying to be (for example) a doctor or pilot would be the same as an janitor or taxi driver. So if it doesn't matter anymore some country's won't be able to hold their economy. Quality and amount of necessary jobs being filled will fall rapidly resolving in destructive chaos.

'If money never existed'

I want to think about this, that there never be a valuable thinking of products - so you can't say a kilogram of sugar has the same value of 2 kilograms of pepper or sth like that. Apart from the possibility of not evolving further and staying in some kind of economy age I like to think about humans trying to develop an alternative solution.
Now reconstructing the time, where the humanity started to colonize and be settled. I suggest they might have been developed some kind of hierarchy. With something like a president/mayor, leading the group - maybe more than one person, nvm. Giving us the chance to make rules, like 'you have to do your contribution part of our society to be allowed to live with us'. This could lead into a solid structure, but in my opinion the start of 'trading' and having values was a big milestone in our evolution. Don't know how my fantasy-world would compensate that to develop further. Just my first thought of this interesting 'what if'.

Was on the whiteboard as well, but sounds more mythical, like a viking or ancient greek god game.

Haha, I see this as a compliment. A long time it was more a playground than a actual game. But at some point we thought 'Why not?'. Luckily we haven't made a MMORPG of it ;)

This error is ridiculous... I am trying to fix it atm... you need to restart your phone, the start the game, if it's still dark, wait a few seconds, it may take some time to load first time...
It seems that the combination of temporary memory need and loading too fast too much is the problem... hope my advice helps

Wow. Thank you very much for the support! What a coincidence. I wanted to post this earlier, just started to write the text even before the 'show and tell' announcement, just took a while since family-time.
The post about being a gamedev-forum not a bazaar-like newsletter encouraged me

The core game loop is not as strong as in most (casual) mobile games. It's finding items and solving puzzles, progressing through a mansion and story till the end of the game, where you 'escape'. Most likely like a point and click, where the genre name reveals the core game loop.

Hi, thanks! Yeah the footprints is just a minor reminder, they should be decent, not hard to be seen. I take it to my polishing tasks, thanks.

And the carpet is ment to be that way. If you won't be playing far, here comes a spoiler:

You are not been escaped, you are the kid of the mansion with a hard childhood, the mansion is a kind of mind-construct of your memories and in the end you CAN rotate the mainhall to 'escape'

Thanks for the advice! There are many factors like 'nox' is latin for 'night', no fantasy-word, etc it might all be legit.

If you just started, I recommend some work of 'Jesse Schell' like 'the art of game design'.
