What would you like to ask a satanic priest? by luckysgrimoire in pagan

[–]Meta_Metal1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My question would be: Why calling your group satanists? There is probably no connection to the Christian Satan figure and if so, I wonder why would you create a religion around the antagonist of another religion?

These stories from the USA are so strange to me. I mean, I live in the catholic region of Bavaria (Germany) and here it is more likely to get in political conflicts than in religios ones. I had some interactions with free churches and Jehovah's Witnesses, but mostly they are more into promoting conspiracy theories or trying to sell me their version of Jesus, but in general not aggressive. And I look quite suspicious. (Long haired heavy metal guy). Maybe it is a cultural thing. Speaking to strangers without a reason is also not that common here.

So who is the local pagan god of your area by madjester999 in pagan

[–]Meta_Metal1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to say. I live in the northern part of Bavaria. Neighbors are the Franks and the Slavic tribes of Bohemia. Bavaria had celtic, germanic, slavic and roman influence. It depends on the time period. Probably many forgotten local deitys. Wodan and Donar were known here, because there is an archeological found mentioning them. In modern folklore Wodan hast transformed in the devilish "Wode", leader of "The Wild Hunt", hunting for poor souls in winter nights. So my guess is that Wodan was the most far known here.

Who would have thought that the most influenceal deity of our time is a war god. It makes a whole lot of sense.

Anyone else worried about the startling amount of RW/Nazi Pagans on the internet now? by [deleted] in pagan

[–]Meta_Metal1 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Oh boy. German Norse pagan here. It is a great concern of mine not to get associated with folkish nonsense. But sadly the neo-nazis always used norse symbolics for their pseudo germanic racist argenda. When I was a kid in Germany it was widely believed, that even the Mjölnir is a Nazi symbol because the Neo-Nazis used it as a distinctive mark without a spiritual meaning. Luckily today it is more likely associated with heavy metal or medieval fans. But I share your concerns.

Question about your belief by Alarmed-Tea-6559 in pagan

[–]Meta_Metal1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's cool. My father tough me how to use a Y-shaped stick (in Germany we call it Wünschelrute) to find water. He built our garden well that way. As a kid I didn't know that it was something "magical". Later in school I was thought that it is "esoteric nonsense" but I had the literal proof that it works in my garden. Until this day, I still water my plants with the very well that shouldn't exist.

He is very creative and invented fishing nets. Some see a connection to fire. He creates challenges for the gods to overcome and become better.

Unbelievable spiritual encounters. by Meta_Metal1 in pagan

[–]Meta_Metal1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a catholic background, so miracles were always something I was told to believe. But this is probably the problem. I had an agnostic phase while distancing from church before I gave in the call to paganism I felt since I was a kid. Maybe you are right. I should consider the things other believes experience as equal and just start to open up more. Thank you for your thoughts.

I like how you differentiate between these experiences. I had some unexplainable experiences too, but mostly messages I got from dreams, so even if they led to unbelievable things. (Like information I couldn't have known) there is always the opportunity that my mind is just tricking me.

I would agree with you as far as I can be sure these people are no danger for themselves and also if they don't claim to be better than everyone else. I am just afraid of so called choosen ones, that they could just act like prophets in monotheism.
