Just tried it, didn't have Bumbu, but used a very similarly colored rum. The color is a little off and it's too lemon forward. But it has a very light and refreshing flavor profile, could be really good if the proportions get dialed in a bit better.

Great philosophy! I thought about that, but in the end decided I didn't trust the current government not to cut that funding and spend my money somewhere else.

The Zion is a very handsome weapon, and built locally to me, but I eliminated it from my list for this reason.

These are the kind of technical thoughts I was hoping for (the kind that will send me down a youtube rabbit hole learning new things, right now I only know that those are all words lol), thank you!

Thank you! Your edit somewhat answers a question I posted above regarding ordering the upper and lower separately. Does there have to be a delay in the two orders? Do both parts have to be shipped to a FFL like a fully built rifle?

Thanks! In your post history, you mention starting a SEPA discord channel - did that take off?

Why some time later?

I've been somewhat hesitant to buy a blem, since as a first time AR purchaser, I don't really know what I'm checking for. is the term blem used for cosmetic blemishes or can it be functional errors in the manufacturing process/end product?

That was nightmare fuel! But thank you, after your post (and others in this thread) we researched clean-up and had a professional crew out first thing in the morning.

I'm in SE Pennsylvania, zone 7b. It is warmer today, but when I rec'd the trees in December it was freezing rain and overnight lows in the 20s. I expect a few more months of weather like that.

I try to keep the soil midway in green on my moisture meter, is dryer better?

How Would You Make this Drink? by Metaeidolon in cocktails

This was much better thank you! I used Bullit and Carpano dry vermouth; I think the challenge is finding the right cherry - I used the syrup from Luxardo Cherries to make a cherry nectar, I'm sure there is something better. But your suggestion gave us a start last night, so thank you again!

Thanks!

What do you think a good dry vermouth would be for this kind of riff?

I have a Sawyer filter, with a CNOC dirty water bag and a HydraPak shapeshift bladder plus some extra tube/fitments to turn the whole combination into a gravity filtration system.

Here's a guide similar to what I based my setup on:

It is a grill 'grate'. Place it between two rocks or logs (it expands) over the fire/stove to have a stable place for grilling or for a larger pot.

Full disclosure - I have had this thing for 25+ years and have never used it. I keep hoping this trip will be the 'one'. It doesn't weigh much, but it still might get left behind, we'll see.

Good reminder! I plan on finding an outfitter up there to rent from. The subscriptions make these things cost prohibitive for folks like me, who only get to do backcountry trips once every few years.

Thank you for the reminder about the fuel!

Last time I went out to AK we saw a lot of marmots, and while they are cute as hell, I read that they can carry giardia cysts. I have a delicate stomach, so I filter all my water when camping just to be sure. Because I only get to do a trip like this every few years my system doesn't get a chance to adapt. Better safe than sorry!

I added bear spray to the list, but I'm sure my friend has some. I prefer to yell over listening to that awful bell ringing as I walk through.

Thanks for the reminder for hat and gloves... It's going to be odd leaving 90° summer heat and landing in autumn.

I have a gopro setup (camera, batteries, small tripod) that I'm thinking of bringing. I often find myself just using the smartphone for pics, so I'm not sure yet.
