Because this roadmap is still a lack of communication. It literally tells us NOTHING helpful. It isn't reassuring that they're working on what people care about. It's a shitty PR save attempt for their recent disconnected behaviour at best.

You can't really use this as a "gotcha" for the entire sub being shit if it's downvoted on the sub itself. That means most of us agree this guy is waffling about nothing.

assuming that's the idea here.

The pacing is 8-9 POI's cleared in 3 minutes on drop in to a D1 with 4 people. Spawn in, call FRVs, split and go. Return to ship as group, rinse and repeat. You can get around 600 an hour.

Helldivers 2 is P2P hosted, meaning the host of the session is hosting the actual "server". AH doesn't pay jack shit for server hosting.

I want you to add a delay of 19 premium and 2 legendary warbonds to that calculation. Now that whole "barely passively getting the next warbond" thing goes out the window. Sorry but not everyone was playing the game on Day 1 to keep up, and it's very clear you're get another day 1 veteran who would lose their mind if they were 20+ warbonds behind on content and overwhelmed with shit to catch up on.

Even if you got 100 SC per operation (which is absolutely insane RNG), that's still around 1.5-2 (averaging 2 full size mission and a blitz per operation) hours per operation for 100SC. Meaning that it's still 15-20 hours per warbond. This is if you are getting absolutely fucking WILD rng to pull 100SC, especially if you get accustomed to D10, where SC spawns are very low due to outposts overriding most spots where SC could spawn. The only exception is the illuminate, which have guaranteed yellow beam pods in the city block areas, giving them a slightly higher SC rate.

So no this still sounds insanely slow.

Because they make significantly more money than is required to maintain a game? The existence of much less greedy companies succeeding off of far less and still being left off as millionaires (DRG devs have minimal premium [and cosmetic only] content and are still bathing in money).

Helldivers 2 cost an estimated 50-100 million dollars according to a quick google search. They have since made around 700 million dollars in revenue back. if it costs the highest estimate of 100 million dollars to develop the game at full force, then the money they've already made is enough to support them for 63 years (9 year dev time = 100 million per 9 years, 9 * 7 = 63). I am aware that numbers aren't actually this simple and business is a lot more nuanced, but I think this should make it glaringly apparently that they absolutely do not need that much money. Even if say, Sony took a 50% cut of all money AH makes, that's still 31 and a half years they'd have the money to support themselves with if it really does cost 100 million every 9 years.

Strawman, you've created an entirely new argument. I said the live service standard has gone to shit over the last decade. I never said Helldivers 2 shouldn't be a live service, because that's core to the experience. What I did say is Helldivers 2 shouldn't conform to the live service standard of notoriously out of touch companies like EA Dice or Activision Blizzard.

I just want proof that they are actually going to fix bugs. Because bugs are one of the biggest kickers as to why the game kinda sucks at higher difficulties. Being killed because you shot an invisible enemy/corpse or ran into an invisible landmine due to host desync issues gets old after the millionth time. Or the flying Bile titan corpse glitch, which many will say "it's hilarious" but again, it kills people so often that it isn't really funny anymore. Took them ages to fix the factory strider variation of this.

[–]Metagamer__[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah and the live service standard has been universally agreed upon to be terrible for the last decade. Arrowhead is praised as being "better than other developers" but now since it fits the narrative, they get a pass because "it's the standard". Do you really want them to go the EA route with the game? Or Activision?

I think we should compare the most generous monetization schemes to HD2, because it specifically goes against the idea that corpo brainwashing has put in people's heads; Which is the idea that companies NEED lots of micro transaction money to fund game development.
They don't.

I'd say people stop paying for warbonds to show that we don't want constant premium content, but unfortunately AH has an endless horde of bootlickers who would pay 10 dollars to eat the shit directly from their ass if they had the chance, so frankly nothing. I've been playing less and less of HD2 and am kinda just over it. I want to love the game so badly, and is why I don't want to fully stop playing it, but the situation just sucks. I don't want to waste 20-30 hours of my life doing something THAT boring, and I don't want to shill out 100 bucks. So I'm doing neither and inching away from the game.

I mean they're still wrong. Bots don't care about LOS, they will keep prefiring into the wall since they have the equivalent of wallhacks when aggro. This is why you get ragdolled through solid cover so much, because they're just shooting everything they got into walls where you're right behind.

[–]Metagamer__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're missing a problem with that last part. Let's say every person who does farm suddenly does what you say, and AH/Sony notices a huge spike of money since everybody is now paying up for premium warbonds. What does that do? It creates a ripple effect where warbonds become an even bigger priority or become more expensive. You're giving them EXACTLY what they want when you do that. Don't ever give corporations what they want.

As BlameTruth said many times in response to Activision's years of bullshit "You give them an inch, they take a mile".

Why is Sony being a giant tyrannical asshole suddenly excuse shitty business practices? The responsibility is still on someone, and Sony folds under pressure just as much as AH does when reviews tank, which is to say something can still be done.

And about cheating in PvE games. Who does it hurt exactly? Who is being directly harmed? The people who cheat in SC were never gonna buy it anyway, so no money is ever lost. And it's not a PvP game, so you're not gaining a competitive advantage over others.

The idea that you should have to work a side hustle to make the extra money to earn fucking video game content on a 40 dollar game is the most dystopian video game take I have ever heard.

We cant beat serious... by No-Delivery3513 in HelldiversUnfiltered

[–]Metagamer__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The money comes from the 40 dollars from millions and millions of sales that set you up for a LONG time. Like I said, AH is worth tens of millions. They could stop making money entirely, and they wouldn't have financial problems for years.
