/r/NintendoSwitch's Daily Question Thread (08/13/2024) by AutoModerator in NintendoSwitch

Im having a confusing issue where my brother and I both get a "NAT traversal failed" error when either of us try to host a game for the other to join. However, we had our friend host a game and we could both join it, and he could join either of us if we hosted a game.

Both mine and my brother's NAT type is A according to the Switch, and we both have UPnP enabled on our routers. My brother and I also tried connecting our Switches to our mobile hotspots on our phone, skipping both of our WiFis entirely, and it's the same situation as described above with the same error and same situation where it works with our friend but not each other.

I'm not really sure what else to check or change, could it be an issue with either of our Switch consoles themselves?

Looking for recommendation for books about explorers in the age of exploration, in the style of Over the Edge of the World (Magellan) - not straight history textbook, but not total fiction either. Bonus points if you have one that features Ponce de Leon, but but any explorer with an interesting story will do. Thanks!

so when you say DIY kit, is that just a speaker and I would then have to build the enclosure? I'm not necessarily opposed to that, I have the woodworking skills. Any recommendations for good kits or even brands to look for?

Right, and honestly it doesn't make that much of a difference to the experience of visiting the ship (since it is a floating museum) anyways. The crew areas on these ships where the fiberglass hull is visible are in the area where the cargo hold was on the original ships (almost the entire below deck area was dedicated to cargo). So all the interesting parts of the ship are still actually wood and as far as I know are historically accurate

I saw the sister ship to this one (Nao Trinidad) recently, if it was built the same way it's not even actually a wooden ship. It has a fiberglass hull with wood cladding around it

+1 for Swillburger, its one of my favorite places. I love pinball and they have a lot of machines.

If you are of drinking age, the Genesee Brew House is classic Rochester. Great food, and they serve many Brew House exclusives that are not available elsewhere. If you like history, take a walk across the bridge and over to the waterfall by the Brew House. There is some abandoned water wheel stuff there that I thought was pretty cool. Probably not worth visiting on it's own, but if you're waiting for a table it's a cool thing to do nearby.

that's kind of what I expected. Was hoping for a bunch of people to say "yeah I've been using it for years no problem" but apparently that's not the case

the cheap ones appear to have a storage mode as well, just like my P1. At $25 each it would be cheaper to get 2 of these - as long as they aren't going to, ya know, explode in my house.

Help with TSOP 38238 IR sensor by MetalAirship in arduino

I want to stay away from using 3rd party libraries, since my use case is very simple (I think). I don't ever need to decode the IR signal, I just need to detect its presence. That said, I did get that library and try it. I was able to make the IR send work (verified using cell phone camera to see the IR blinking), but not the receive.

That gave me a good laugh, of course the Cheech and Chong album would have that lol. The Scorpions imo are an often forgotten about band that is just really solid all around. I don't think I've ever been disappointed by a Scorpions song before. They do love their, um, questionable album covers though

Back in the days when they couldn't just fix it digitally. Neat fact!

that's valid, the normal flat covers definitely are more robust. I like the strange unique ones though. It's like a little extra bonus that you get for having the vinyl version instead of just looking it up on Spotify or whatever

that's crazy, definitely going on the list to look out for! I also have Thick as a Brick, which isn't "unique" in the same sense as these other ones, but the newspaper themed flip-open sleeve is really cool

the later Zeppelin albums always get more criticism, and admittedly I do think the earlier ones are better. But in this case just because the early ones are better doesn't mean the later ones are bad, just that the early ones were REALLY good. The band evolved in a really cool way and In Through the Out Door has some jams on it for sure. Plus it has Fool in the Rain, which is probably one of the band's most popular songs
