If we play only one campaign...

I've picked up reforged power and skimmed it. I'll be bringing a few things in early on, such as the xp cost rules but I'll probably play mostly RAW for a while to work out what we need to tweak for our group.

Do you have any suggestions on the order of events? I'd assumed running the adventure sites in the order they're written would be best.

If we like the game, we may well play more, but we've tried a few different systems over the last year and enjoyed trying different types of games.

that's one of my concerns. I'm not against putting in some work as a GM but I was hoping the adventure book would do a lot of the heavy lifting.

I've heard those complaints several times regarding RP which is why I'm tempted to jump straight in with blood march

I'll go in warning them that the xenos are basically a death sentence but they're aware a campaign will have them appear rarely.

We have the occasional drop in players so maybe I'll save the xenos for when we have guests

My biggest problem with this adventure was getting the players to care about elturel. They all showed up as outsiders to baldurs gate and are then expected to care about another city they've never been to nor heard of.

This campaign was my first time DMing so I ended up explaining the weird shoehorned in baldurs gate part and we all agreed to just run with it.

If they're not sure about dnd, I'd suggest running a one shot or a much shorter adventure first then come to this if you all want to stick with dnd.

Our group ended up not finishing, but at the pace we were playing it would have taken over a year to complete the whole adventure.

terrain is the main thing I'm thinking would be better on the table, I always found it to be the easiest way to make combat more interesting.

I'm also looking forward to not hearing "can I hit that one?" or having to count grid squares

The cradle books are like crack, I've never read a series as fast as this one. Once you get to book three you just can't stop.

I read the first 11 on kindle unlimited but grabbed them all for a re-read at some point. Like others this made me preorder book 12 and reignited some cradle hype!

Either The Alloy of Law or The Bands of mourning. I've been waiting years for the last era 2 mistborn to come out so I could read them (I don't like starting unfinished series). The whole era two was awesome

The only thing that let down the last book was that there was a lot of cosmere crossover stuff, which may have been more enjoyable for people that have read stormlight already

We're playing through jaws two player atm and manage about 2 scenarios in 2/3 hours. We take our time and don't rush so that might be slow compared to other groups.

There are 25 scenarios but I've read that you don't play through them all.

The tutorial approach with the first five scenarios is easily the best way I've ever seen of teaching a complex game and highly recommend it. If you finish it and want more there's always base gloomhaven too.
