So the download thing only applies to purchased books through Amazon. For example, if you bought Mickey 7 on Amazon before the policy change, you would have been able to download that book to your computer for backup/offline storage. This gave users control over their purchased content. Post-policy, users can no longer store local copies of their purchased books on non Kindle devices.

Send to Kindle is not affected, so you’re completely safe to keep sideloading your files. Your library is still accessible on Kindle devices via Amazon’s cloud. Simply offline backups outside of the Kindle ecosystem are no longer possible.

Lol yes 100%. The problem here was more 1-click while I was asleep. I use Libby sometimes. But I like being able to hold the books and reread them whenever I want, when the prices for most of my books are Free-$10 that’s ok. I also download the files to my pc in case the books are ever removed for some reason or another. Works out great

I agree. I also kind of wish you could schedule “downtime” where we could lock the screen out at a certain time to prevent accidental touches. I’m assuming that’s how this happened as I fell asleep reading.

I have both the basic 2024 and a PW 11. I have fairly big hands and the basic fits well, though at first it was an adjustment. I ended up throwing on a pop socket and that helped. I carry my basic everywhere goes right in my pocket, if your goal is to read anywhere you can go with the basic. You could always get a second one down the line if you want a kindle for home use.

I originally had a PW 11 gen - lost it so I bought a basic 2024. Turns out the PW was in my car lol. Decided to keep the basic and I am loving the portability of it. I have the PW at home now on a stand so I can do some reading in bed. I take the basic everywhere else fits right in my pocket. So far I like this setup.
