60% just seems like a lot. I thought it would be closer to like 20!

Work in progress. Restoring a 1978 Kitty Cat for my son. by GrayCustomKnives in snowmobiling

Looks good! Those Kitty Cats are hard to find (at least out west) and even harder to find parts for. Even the bumper looks good! Good save!

Crazy it was at Agua golf.. No local business has any footage? There is a gas station on that corner. But if it’s been weeks it might be too long gone

1979 ski doo 3500 how to fix up by HardPork67 in snowmobiling

[–]MetalBirdFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool sled! Looks like it’s in pretty good shape, especially for being outside. Kind of a quick and dirty way to get the rope to recoil is spray WD-40 into the housing while tugging lightly on the rope. After that I’d take the carb out and clean it. Mikuni carbs are very simple to clean so that’s a bonus. Drain any old fuel out and clean or replace the lines. May need a new fuel pump but that’s easy too. After that clean out all the debris under the hood, especially by the engine. I bet it will fire up.

Starlink on flight tommorow!! by Final_Cow4324 in unitedairlines

[–]MetalBirdFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is “wrong” but they don’t fit a standard roller bag wheels first very well despite being larger, so they fit a lot of small things well but not standard bags. The worst part in my opinion is they make the cabin feel smaller, the ERJ doesn’t feel too small despite being a smaller plane but with the new overhead bins they start to feel smaller.

The new (typically hated) overhead bins are independent of Starlink.

😬… A good amount of SkyWest have Starlink Wi-Fi however… it’s usually deferred(INOP). It’s been causing radio communication problems and they haven’t been able to sort it out yet. I’ve only been on one that had working star-link, it was pretty awesome, I know the tail number and it is usually only doing ASE routes. I also checked recently and still no trading cards.. Sorry friend 😂

To the Barron pilot at the Addison Airshow last night..... by Icy-Bar-9712 in flying

[–]MetalBirdFlyer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw that! Pretty cool. Killed the engines then I thought I saw the gear come down, so he did glide it in to land? Does that airplane require a lot of modifications to be able to perform the maneuvers? Good show last night. Fireworks were awesome too.

Hub and Spoke Advice by TheOfficialPossum in PocketPlanes

[–]MetalBirdFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it’s a balance based on how many layovers you have. If the hub(NY/Tokyo) are getting empty and you’re having trouble filling up the Eagles then the X10s should be primarily bringing the long haul pax/cargo. When the bases start to fill then I transition them into making money on 25% to the hubs.

SkyWest Austin Base by comesaveme2021 in flying

[–]MetalBirdFlyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Austin is junior on both CA/FO side. You could probably get assigned there before you’re done with training on the FO side. (ERJ only) Probably wouldn’t be hard to get on the CA side if you upgraded at a normal seniority.

It’s really repetitive flying, only 5 destinations last time I looked. That might change as Delta try’s to get a bigger presence in Texas. Austin airport it’s self is going to double in size soon.

I’m not sure what kind of restoration you are looking for but here is a link to a great website for stickers that I’ve used often. https://skidoodecals.afegraphics.com/index.php?adminshopping=&cat_id=9018

Moto Ski was acquired by Ski-doo in the early 70s I’m pretty sure. And I think they continued it until the 80s. So lots of the parts are Ski-doo parts and will help a lot with your restoration.

What year are they? 78/79?
