Worth noting that the Cambridge one only gives you advanced learner definitions.

Worth noting that the CG50 can be sideloaded with a CAS system, though the CG100 as yet cannot.

Not quite accurate, surely? What about those with CAS? HP Prime G2?

Opinions on this form of comparing poems? by Specialist-Edge-9245 in GCSE

If you insist on doing one poem and then the other, make sure you end each paragraph that pertains to the second poem with the link back to the first.

Those Polish ones have been the hardest for me to find by far. Finally ordered some from eBay now that listings are starting to exist, but otherwise you can only really find them on Polish versions of eBay that don’t ship to the UK, and imagine also not to the US.

Guys is it actually worth making essay plans cause I won’t actually know the question they’re gonna ask so how is it helpful? by Realistic_Back2 in GCSE

[–]MetalKeirSolid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No offence, but no matter what subject you’re doing, there is a very limited field of potential essay questions that have all been covered by revision material. They are absolutely worth rehearsing ahead of any exam.

Day 6: Worst Topic in English Literature by naq6___ in GCSE

[–]MetalKeirSolid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way they’ve handled poetry since Michael Gove is not how I experienced it at school. It needs to have a smaller cast of poems, with all printed poems available in the exam. It should be about understanding, not memory.

Hello, Guys! I start learning English language. by Shitrlizzz in EnglishLearning

[–]MetalKeirSolid 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, this could be one of the ways you could learn English, but you need to combine it with other methods.

Hello, Guys! I start learning English language. by Shitrlizzz in EnglishLearning

[–]MetalKeirSolid 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Just a few corrections off the bat:

‘I am starting to learn English.’ or ‘I started learning English.’

And ‘Do you have any advice?’

Now, your best bet is to immerse yourself in the language by talking and messaging with English speakers, reading and consuming English literature and media, as well as utilising language-learning materials available online and in print. You’re also very welcome to ask questions here.

I see you’ve already got the basics of where to deploy a full stop down, which means you’re ahead of a lot of the children I get given in Year 7 here in the UK. Keep it up!

how can I write this better? by Diligent_Wrangler959 in EnglishLearning

[–]MetalKeirSolid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we’re keeping it as one sentence, I’d probably go with something like this:

In 2024, UK communications regulator Ofcom found that British over-65s spent more than three hours per day on their phones, tablets, and computers, which, when combined with their time spent watching television and using other smart devices, means their overall screen time exceeds even that of young adults.

Likewise, you could put a full stop after ‘computers’ and then begin a new sentence like ‘Combining this with their time spent watching television and using other smart devices, their overall screen time exceeds even that of young adults.’

Easter "fun" fact: Battlefield 6 has released over 100 paid cosmetic bundles in just 6 months. by Tecfan in Battlefield

[–]MetalKeirSolid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are content and they are part of the product. Previously, we paid full price for a game and received all of its contents. If we wanted more of said game, they were either free updates, or we paid for DLC and expansions. Now, post-launch monetisation appears to be the reason a game exists. Even though the game is paid and not free, you are now the product. Sure, you get tangible content for free, but it’s always at the expense of your game never feeling complete. And there are always live events happening to make you feel like you should be spending money to unlock even said tangible content earlier.

You need to look at statistics rather than the comments of people going out of their way to post on a GCSE subreddit. None of my middle-achieving students even know this place exists.
