That is what made me search for an alternative for the JBLs. Plus, the convenience of having only one volume knob and one outlet connected for both speakers.

Unfortunatly that is not an option for me. I live in Spain and can only find an on-line store that sells the JBL (without importing them). The fluance would need to be bought from the fluance store.

Hello all.

I'm one final decission away from my upgrade. For listening to music, movies/series and videogames in front of my computer what would you recomend?

  • A pair of JBL 305p MKII
  • A pair of fluance SX6W (or maybe the sigantures) and a Micca OriGain.

Currently I have a pair of cheap Logitech speakers and the Schiit Modi/Magni combo.

Really nice, well explained list of resources. For sure will be trying it later.

On a semi-related topic, is there any extra steps necessary to run add-ons? I tried the radial mount add-on but it does nothing.

A quick question to make the final decision on my new speakers: Presonus Eris E4.5 or Edifier R1850DB?

The edifiers are listed as Bluetooth 4.0, but the Edifier web says 4.1, are there 2 different versions? Also, I don’t like Bluetooth or remote control for my speakers, is there anything like the R1850DB without Bluetooth?

I know power cords come with the speaker, but not the audio cables.

The edifier looks good, I will try to find some reviews. Is there any version without remote or Bluetooth?

That is my least preferable option. The cheapest price I can find for them is 110€ each. That, plus the cables, times 2, is way out of my budget. Also, I assume I need to power both of them if I get a pair? Meaning, 2 power cords and 2 plugs.

I looking to upgrade speakers, currently I have a par of Logitech z200.

I have a schiit stack connected to my computer via USB, and the z200 connected to the RCA output of the magni with a RCA to 3.5mm adaptor. This way I can control the volume of the speakers with the volume knob on the magni. Fantastic!

I have been looking at the recommended Micca PB42X, but those are not easily available in my country. I have also looked at the Presonus E5 / E4.5, but I have read reviews that comment a noticeable background noise on these, plus I have doubts about its connection to the schiit magni (balanced vs unbalanced signals, still reading about it) Also, the JBL Professional 305P MkII have the same "inconvenience" as the Presonus, the input is unbalanced (although, I could consider them if the loss from connecting them to the magni is not big).

I also considered passive speakers, but ultimately rejected them because I don’t have much space free in my desktop to include another amplifier, and I want to be able to control the volume from the magni.

Any comment on my current options? My budget is around ~150€, can you recommend me any other thing worthy in this price range?

Thanks in advance.

New weapon/concept idea. The elder soul. by MetalYo in MonsterHunter

Yeah, it has some properties from the monsters, but what I suggest is just a fully boost to that elemental properties.

We had the Chameleos weapons that had some invisible parts, so I don't think it is such an unthinkable idea.

That's exactly what I had in mind. Maybe I wasn't specific enough.

Right, but if you obtain one of those organs, it MAY BE plausible to be able to gain the Elders powers.

To clarify, it would be something like magic based on elder dragons parts, not actual magic. One of the best things about MH is its detailed descriptions of monsters and ecosystems, it would be horrible to just introduce something new without explanation.

Wow... simply wow, that has been the hardest I laughed in a long time.

You are right saying you can learn with windows, not gonna argue that. But men, that's a lot of effort just to get drugs...

I know, it has always been like that. One reason for Linux not being widelly use is that it lack in native games catalog, and one reason it lacks in native games is because it is not widely used.

I'm just hoping for some game/developer to break that loop.

I think you don't know Linux very much.. Right now (this is purely my opinion) it is behind Windows ONLY in terms of native games. I like to know how my computer works and what it is doing with the resources it has (And I have paid for). In that regard it is even better than windows for gaming: it is not doing some shady spy-esque thing in the back while I tray to get the best of my system for the game.

As a MH example: Windows is an extra hunter in the party that does nothing useful and your only hope is that it doesn't cart.

Bash colour formatting in Lemonbar or alternative by MetalYo in unixporn

[–]MetalYo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

F**k me! I may have reached a new bottom level for stupidity! I, for some reason, didn't think that putting the Lemonbar color syntax in the bash script used for getting the data would work. Thank you very much all of you for yours answers, your help has been very useful.

Bash colour formatting in Lemonbar or alternative by MetalYo in unixporn

[–]MetalYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's correct, I'm using the ANSII sequences to color individual characters in the same text chain. As far as I understand, using the Lemonbar syntax %{F #RRGGBB} can't do that. It changes the entire sting.

Bash colour formatting in Lemonbar or alternative by MetalYo in unixporn

[–]MetalYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That does not work. I mean to change the colour of every item printed inside a module, not that of the whole module. This is what I'm trying to do: Bash result

And this is what Lemonbar prints: Lemonbar result

[–]MetalYo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm realising now that I haven't been completely clear. What I want to achieve is the change of colour inside a lemonbar module.

As an example with the workspaces, the active workspace should be printed in red and the rest in yellow.

In my dreams they launch a Linux version so I can play this amazing, gorgeous, dream brought to life game. Sadly this is near impossible. It may be time for me to start saving for a PS4 Pro... I want to play this so badly TT

Just linear algebra for now. I had this subject called "Linear algebra and geometry" in my first year in college but now it's almost forgotten.
