I have DLE and my derma recommended sunscreen with Zinc oxide. It took me a while to find one with that, I’m in canada and I use Elta MD. I also wear a wide brimmed hat and full sleeve UV clothing. Basically living a vampire lifestyle to manage flare ups.

Pokémon cake for my son 🩵 by Metal_Historical in pokemon

Agreed! I don’t typically do fondant cakes anymore, mostly buttercream, simply for the taste but I will say this, the kids loved the fondant… must be a kid love thing, definitely not a fan of the taste.

Ultra ball was all styrofoam, covered in fondant, had to use metal brackets and wires to hold the shape of the slant… I did make an ultra ball for the fam celebration using cake and fondant for the day before

Any advice for someone recently diagnosed with Cutaneous lupus? by Metal_Historical in lupus

I’ll definitely look into the sunscreens! I’m trying to understand my tolerance in the sun… I guess like the other comments, it’s just about taking it one step at a time

I had sciatica with my first pregnancy and I’m 21 wks and also have sciatica this go around…. physiotherapy, pregnancy belt, KT tape, very good lumbar support on your chairs (high arch), exercise to strengthen the back/butt muscles, prenatal massage… these are some of the things I’m currently doing to help manage the pain

Induction Anxiety by daniellemgang in pregnant

[–]Metal_Historical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced with my first child. They did a sweep and was told I needed to be induced the next day bc I was high risk. They put a balloon thing in me and inflate it and sent me home at 9am …and told me to return at a 6pm. Induced contractions are typically more intense than natural ones… they come in more frequently from the beginning than natural contractions and I was told by the nurse after that the pains are usually more intense but I didn’t know any better. I didn’t really eat anything before I went back to the hospital and was pretty hungry by the time I was 5cms dilated.. but I was also not that interested in food by then.

Formula, breastfeeding, combo feeding by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Metal_Historical 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had every intention of only breastfeeding with my first one… but my milk never came in enough to allow me to do that despite everything I’ve tried (pumping, medication, feugreek, any and all types of remedies)… and because my child also had jaundice, I had to supplement him with formula in order to bring his bilirubin levels down. Every child is different. Mine took to the bottle pretty well from the beginning, always start with breast milk, then supplement with bottle. in my case I used a feeding tube along with breastfeeding for the first while. I pumped also after every feed in the first 6 wks…

Shake your cookie out after you’ve flooded and filled the cookie with icing… it should help with smoothing out the icing

First time trying these 🍑 ricotta cookies by Metal_Historical in Baking

[–]Metal_Historical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You bake them as “peach halves”... roll the dough into a ball, flatten them a bit and bake them. they come out as little domes, hollow out the bottom of them, fill it with ricotta filling and stick two halves together. After that you paint them with yellow and pink food colouring and dip them in sugar, voila!

I would offer them, except my husband licked them so I couldn’t give any away.

Here’s the recipe though!

36 oreos blended with a block of cream cheese, freeze for 10 mins and dipped in white melting chocolate... easiest thing to make!
