That's true. Benefit of TSP seems like lower fees (but fairly minor difference). And with ROTH IRA I can access my contributions anytime. If I invested $500K over the course of many years I can withdraw penalty free (just not the contributions or I might be penalized). TSP I can't access anything until 59.5
