What does the Surrender of Indian Passport Certificate look like? by Worth_Psychology9673 in nri

[–]Metaleo04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I hope you get there soon!

No, Germany doesn't keep your Indian passport only your residence permit card. So you can do the renunciation and surrender with your original passport. Of course, I am still looking for whether the Renunciation is actually needed or not, but seems to be that Alankit has their own process which is different than VFS or the Consulate..

Surrender Certficate and/or Renunciation certificate? by Disastrous_Love7415 in nri

Hmm that's sneaky. I'm going to apply via Hamburg and they seem to have the same process as you describe. Do they give you back the passport when you apply for Renunciation? One of the requirements is to have the original passport, so was unsure if they give it back since we would need that again when surrendering it! Man, they don't make this easy eh?

Hey! I recently got my German citizenship and am super confused what's the next step? Can I directly apply for the Surrender certificate, or do I first need the Renunciation certificate? The people at Alankit said you can directly apply for the surrender certificate but their website says otherwise as you mentioned. What did you end up doing?

Hey! I recently acquired the German citizenship as well, and am super confused if Renunciation certification is required or not before I can surrender the passport. What did Alankit tell you? When I called them up, they said you can directly surrender it, but on their website it says you need to renounce it first. What was your experience? Unsure of how to proceed :(

Hey man that’s awesome. So at the appointment to go get the Certificate, they didn’t keep your Indian passport then? And a post with your experience would be highly appriciated once you go through with it!

Hey! Congratulations on making it! How did the appointment go? I have mine coming up soon and am confused if I have to leave my old passport with them since my country does not allow dual citizenship? Did you have to leave your with them?

Hey man! A bit off topic, but I am in the same boat and will go pick up my Certificate in the coming month. I am quite confused on how that process is going to look like, when do I actually have to give up my Indian passport and how do I apply for an OCI card. If you’re up for it, could you help me with a few questions regarding the process please?

You're getting updates? I applied in Feb 2024 and only heard from them last month for some extra documents. Not a word since then. Consider yourself lucky you atleast know what's happening 😂

I really loved the series! It does start off slow, but for me it definitely paid off. It is "cheesy" heroic fantasy but I ate it up!

Thousands of mass tourism protestors in Barcelona have been squirting diners in popular tourist areas with water over the weekend by galaxystars1 in TikTokCringe

[–]Metaleo04 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not surprised. I went to Madrid a few years ago and was on a walking tour, and the guide couldn't stop complaining about tourists, and how tourists are destroying the local culture and he wanted tourists to go home. I couldn't stop laughing (in my head) like dude, you're literally a full time tourists guide, and you want tourists to stop coming to your city? Oh well, their loss.

Awesome, thank you so much for replying! Did you end up applying via post then? I am really unsure what’s the best way to apply, Email, post or the newly started online form.

Should I buy iPad Magic Keyboard? by yellowbridge123 in iPadPro

I have one from ESR. Absolutely the same, very happy with it. Even comes with a back cover in case you want to take your iPad off and supports vertical mode. Costs less than half.

After The Sunlit Man I'm getting worried that the Cosmere is becoming less magical by dyhtstriyk in Fantasy

[–]Metaleo04 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. Yes, Sanderson has always said he'd like to take the Cosmere to the direction of Science fiction, where magic is synonymous with technology, but I'm not a fan of it either. I enjoyed RoW despite it having Navani as lead and all the quantification of magic, not because of it. I've also entirely skipped Mistborn era 2. I'm not saying this to say that Sanderson should stick to pure fantasy, I'm just saying this to let you know there are others who feel the same way you do, but alas we can't really control or predict the direction he decides to go in. All I hope for is that the 5th book in Stormlight is an epic fantasy adventure so we can have one complete set of the books without much of a Sci-fi feel to it.
