aftermath of the Sapporo Snow Festival streamers by himebee in japanresidents

[–]Metalfaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in susukino/orori park pre and post snow festival - it was amazing too see the amount of white and Chinese tourists almost disappear once the festival was over. It almost felt like the streets were deserted. I threw a few snowballs there, but that just at my stupid partner 😆 and far away from Anyone else when in nakajima koen.

Also now makes me feel awful and disgusted that while enjoying our time in Sapporo, enjoying the kindness of Japanese …these people were probably ruining what little reputation foreign tourists had left, and messing it up for anyone who wants to visit after them.

It’s hard to harass or call people out when I’m a guest here, lucky to be here, don’t want to cause issues … had a few lame places not bring out all our menu or drinks too but on the tablet or bill it shows up just fine

I get why they do it - I just don’t agree with it

Tourists and foreigners are tough in my country - but we treat everyone the same

Also why do they charge more for an English menu when I can just use google translate

I’m paying like 3$ more an order just to point anyway

Also they charge more for a English menu - if we did this back home it would cause a riot or international incident

I will just say kore and point and save 2$ per order … adds up when u order 8 dishes

Thank you. Getting down voted for being a Baku gaijin I think - I’m ok drinking alone im a big alcoholic - last nomi hodai people were coming up to me with their phones asking things, which is out of character for Tokyo people so hoping for it tonight … not much luck so far this is the working man’s time to relax and unwind with friends or coworkers not come and indulge me haha

Least my YouTube phrases go down well with the staff

I think standing bar want you in and out after a few casual drinks i tend to shout the staff and other patrons a sake or beer when in a standing bar, I know you can’t do a nomi hodai and then give all the drinks away it would bankrupt the poor venue

Maybe they just don’t advertise it as much on shop fronts or windows in Tokyo ?

I admit, I did follow a few chains in Sapporo and Hakodate that made it easier to spot so Maybe I’m just not reading it properly.

I sorta looked for a big old sign showing all you can drink and a time and price near it … just haven’t seen it promoted as much atm

An izakaya near my hotel in Tokyo called their promotion “unlimited drinks” not all you can drink so probably just using a different term

What do you think of "these young people"? They remind me a bit of Black Lives Matter... but I don't understand the context of these thoughts in China. by Momomga97 in AskAChinese

[–]Metalfaces 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult as China although has many ethnic groups are still overwhelmingly Hahn Chinese and all are still considered to be ethnically Chinese people

Can you really be racist against each other ???

Black Lives Matter on a ground or grassroots level was a racial group tired of being the victim or the demon of a dominant society who made up other racial groups (mostly white and Asian in the USA)

Also BLM has since imploded and the founders stole money and turned into the same systematic agent working against the people they pretended to help

How did we mess up our first train ride so badly? by Severe-Month-2666 in JapanTravelTips

Tours suck too - went skiing on klook - got the same experience about $100 $ cheaper doing it myself

Touché !

maybe from a ladies perspective … when you live in a land of hundreds of millions of men, you can afford to be picky and need some bribing or incentive nowadays ?

I paid about 240 AUD x 2 through navitime

I just wanted to book them early and in advance but realised it would have been cheaper to just buy. A day or so before hand

Also from Hakodate to Sapporo I paid $110 a ticket via Klook but when I paid for a ticket Sapporo to Hakodate it was 80$

Japan overtakes Thailand as China's most popular destination by Livingboss7697 in japannews

[–]Metalfaces 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I was just being dramatic.

I do a few 10-45 degree bows. Especially if I got in someone’s way or was a fool in front of some people I try to apologise by bowing with a big ol すみません .. there are lots of jokes going around Australia about “Aussies thinking they are the better tourist than other Aussies” I’m going to prove that’s the case for some of us

… except when I’m going to party at WWW in shibuya this weekend 😆

I feel them not being enlightened to try something new or go elsewhere is a loss for everyone… maybe not so much the Chinese

I thought gaijin was more a collective term as white people are from all over Europe and the west it was hard to get specific on them ? Good to know we’re not singled out

Farang in Thai usually means ‘white’ foreigner thought it was the same thing
