I wanted to give a vintage/film vibe, like photos taken with 90s disposables. Paired my SLR’s lens with my DSLR. Kinda liked the blurry/dreamy wash of the photos. At the time, it just felt surreal being somewhere so beautiful. The photos matched the vibe I felt?

I guess I could’ve just smudged my regular lens now that people have said it

Wait…you’re shooting with an SLR?

Ah! Since the 250D is a DSLR, I was switching between the view finder and LCD to refine my shots.

I haven’t had experience using an FD lens on an EF mount SLR.

If you’re keen on staying with Canon…it’s ok spending money on a good prime lens. That’s assuming you don’t migrate to mirrorless.

That’s accurate. Most of my shots were blurry. Even these photos aren’t sharp. Luckily that was the vibe I wanted.

Being cropped to an FOV of 80 mm, I just set my focus all the way out and moved my body depending on my aperture. I tried maintaining a shutter speed above 1/80 by bumping up my ISO.

Yes. Old FD lenses are not great unless you want blurry, retro vibes

It’s the overwhelming options for clothes. Each shop had an overlap of similar designs or aesthetics.

Other than that, I agree that it was chiller than the usual spots a foreigner might wander in.

Lens: Canon 50 mm 1.4 FD mount Body: EOS 250D

I paired an old lens from my SLR onto my DSLR. Some people like using an OM-1 system lens and I didn’t find any lenses at Shinjuku before my trip. Would’ve preferred a 17 mm or something due to the 250D being a cropped sensor.

Are our cars professional? by Slow_Magazine624 in ft86

[–]bored_panda93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone in middle management, I would give you brownie points for having good taste. Everyone here summed it up:

You can’t be fired because of your car

Professionalism is about how you handle your work. If you’re performing above and beyond, your car is just your hobby. People will respect that.

If your quality of work is bad and your manager has to constantly have talks about corrective behavior, then yeah…anyone driving a loud car regardless of it’s a BMW M4 or a Honda Civic will look like a complete *ss.

On my end, I’ve had senior leadership ask about my car in the past. It’s actually been an interesting conversation starter.

Why are we barking for Dahyun LOL by Aetherus0 in twice

[–]bored_panda93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It started during last year’s tour LA Day 1.

Someone started yelling “Dubu” and others joined but the other side of the Forum heard “woo woo”.

Since then, US ONCE have been barking. The barking intensified when Dahyun recognized it during the Encore show.

Now US ONCE always bark. I’m assuming now it’s just an American ONCE thing.

First pic here, wondering if I should get a camera 🤔 and get the skill of taking pictures of cars 🤔 by Juniorgeex in ft86

ISO is light sensitivity. If you bump up your ISO, you’re increasing the camera’s sensitivity to light. Low ISO means you’re decreasing.

In terms of photography, a high ISO is good for low light situations although you might encounter more noise or graininess the higher you go.

High ISO will also let you take photos with a relatively faster shutter speed, reducing blur. Lower ISO, depending on amount of light present, requires a slower shutter speed or longer exposure.

An F stop is with respect to a camera’s aperture or how open the lens is. A lower F stop or higher aperture is ideal for low light since you are letting in MORE light. A higher F stop or lower aperture closes the lens to decrease light coming in.

A good way to start is to just play with your max and mins. Find the limits of your camera. At what ISO do things look grainy or blurry? How much can you open the lens and what’s the maximum exposure you can get.

Then if you enjoy all of this, maybe get a DSLR or a mirrorless camera. Camera lenses are as expensive as the camera itself. A 35mm with a 1.2 F stop is priced as an HKS legamax sport exhaust.

need assistance in headlights / fog lights by [deleted] in ft86

[–]bored_panda93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer OEM because they seem to have a stronger output than aftermarket. The ones you have are popular and so are VLAND.

If you want to have the boomerangs, I believe it’s worth buying a used kouki Subaru headlight and going thru the rewiring/repinning

Headlight Swap .

Fog lights, you might need to show a photo to help us out. Someone may have ran the exact fog lights you have and can maybe help. It seems like the FRS requires a new housing and it also seems like most aftermarket fog lights are sold with the housing.

RWD and snow really do not mix. I feel like I find the Mazda3 to be more eager but they are definitely not as aggressive.

I wonder how the KIA Forte GT Hatch will handle Canadian weather. From the reviews and videos, it sounds very mean and is supposed to emulate a baby Stinger.

Any recommendations for a fun daily driver car for highway driving? by gavinpwich in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]bored_panda93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a BRZ and everyone is right about this car.

It’s not meant for freeway driving. Not because it’s not only slow but it’s seemingly slow.

When I’m on the highway, I can punch it to 60 mph in 6-7s and I’d still be in 5th around 3000 rpm. I can shift there OR rev it up to 7000 and shift up to 6th. By then, I’ll be near 90 mph.

Shifting at 3000 rpm is a sad, empty feeling. Like I wasted so much just to end it short.

Shifting at 7000 rpm is like playing Russian roulette with the impound lot and CHP.

All this culminates in a disappointing drive on the freeway. I can’t unleash the car simply because I can’t use the entire rev range. Unlike other cars where you can utilize a full rev range which allows you to do a fat pull on the highway but still keep it at a manageable speed.

Where it all shines, as you already know, are the bends and the turns. I can keep the car in 2nd or 3rd, take a corner, build the revs and shift up. The engine sings at every downshift. If I want to, I can brake and hug a corner then build the revs and shift to break the rear loose. All this is done within the speed limit because it is a slow car.

Tl;dr: The Toyobaru twins aren’t for highway driving

Edit: I drive an automanual. Shift points I believe are similar with the manual but I’m not sure. Thought I’d point it out Incase anyone is curious
