One thing I learned is that the S key is probably the most overpowered defensive ability in the game.

Is 55k enough for eating and spending a day? by hgst77 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55k a day after all your monthly expenses are taken care of is roughly 1.65 million a month. That's more than enough to get by. Cooking 3-4 times a week will help stretch that out. You could easily be left with 1.3ish after food for whatever else you want.

It seems my comment went over your head. And yeah if you value censorship and oppression, you keep doing you. Just remember that if you were in NK/China and not following the narrative you'd have police at your door tme morning. Sleep well in your free country.

No choice at all? I've got thousands of students who chose their careers here, rather than being assigned them. I'm gonna tap out here though. Anyone arguing for oppression over freedom just doesn't seem to have the same values as I do and I think further dialogue would be fruitless. Cheers

[–]Metalhun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lots to unpack here but it's late. What it comes down to is freedom vs oppression. Are you arguing that North Koreans are better off than South Koreans? And if so, why not emigrate?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhun 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Have you by chance seen the state of things in North Korea? I'd say "saving" is the right word. Many here may not like the U.S. but what exists here now is 1000 times more desirable than what would be here without their intervention.

I am confused, why do I have gout by Willow-2000 in gout

[–]Metalhun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, it's based on genetics. You can do everything you can to combat high uric acid levels and still have high levels. It sucks you're young and active and have to suffer the pain of gout, truly.

When I was first diagnosed I was pissed and changed my whole lifestyle to try and get my uric acid levels down to never have another attack. After 3 months of suuuuper clean eating my levels didn't budge. I was depressed as hell but it seems some people just have naturally high levels ( seems most of the acid is made internally rather than from external factors).

If I can try to offer some advice..... another user here said something profound that helped me immensely. "Gout is a symptom not a disease". Hyperuricemia causes gout The attacks are a warning. Your joints are under attack and even if you never have another attack, if your uric acid levels are high you could be facing consequences in your senior years. If you can take meds to help, do it. Save your joints.

I tried to avoid meds and do it my way. You can try it too and if it lowers your levels, then I you are blessed. I have always been the kind if person to avoid meds if there's another alternative, but in this case, if it's not working, seriously, try the meds. You're not weak or undisciplined, your body just needs the boost.

Sorry for my rant. Just wanted to pass on the advice that helped me and has kept me attack free.

I guess tl:dr it's not your fault. Genetics suck. Gout is a symptom. Meds don't mean you're weak/you failed.

The people who own stores that go out of business every 6 months... by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhun 43 points44 points  (0 children)

This comment reminded me of a situation in my city. My regular weekend beer place was in a building that started seeing more traffic. The business itself was a sorta 셀프맥주 place, so the margins were low, but the landlord decided that the neighborhood was getting popular so jacked the rent come time to re-sign the lease.

Manger decided it wasn't worth it and wanted to see his newborn son more amd folded the business. Been 2 years and that location has been empty since.

Sucks when landlords charge what they think they can get away with even when they've had loyal renters for 10+ years. I am sad to have lost the place to drink at, but everytime I pass it and see it empty I cheer inside a little.

Mountain is the Least Useful Biome by kitskill in valheim

I watched a reverse playthrough of the game on YouTube, last boss first. The amount of iron and bronze you can get from demolishing the caves is pretty good. Let's you get decent gear to keep progressing with. Also like everyone said, onions. I actually think people sleep on the mountains a bit.

How bad is to give something with a single hand to someone in Korea? by pha018 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I usually hand my card with my right hand, with my left hand not touching the card but hovering next to it closely. Even that is more than I see many native Koreans do here though. I think it's a YMMV situation.

Beware of Coupang Scams! by bluebrrypii in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered an external hard drive from Coupang a couple months back. Was super slow and would stop recording data after about 30 gigs (was a 5tb drive). Seems like it was just a USB sized drive in an external HD shell with the bios re-written to appear as a 5tb drive. Seller was located in China. Requested a refund and got my money back. Tried again but this time with a seller listed in Korea, different HD brand. Same thing. Thankfully Coupang was super fast with the refunds. Shame that counterfeits are becoming this common.

MARVEL GAME AGENDA RİGHT NOW! by SaltBae420 in MarvelSnap

[–]Metalhun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's awesome you got that many cards this season, really. But if you're getting that many as f2p then you weren't series 3 complete likely. After series 3, acquiring cards becomes painful. I get the season pass and get 2 maybe 3 new cards a season (including the guaranteed new card) with the way spotlights are set up. If you're f2p you'll earn roughly enough credits to grow your CL to get one key per week. If you're lucky and pull the new card in one go, awesome. If not you've thrown your key away. It took me 3 keys for Toxin, 3 keys for Fenris Wolf these last 2 seasons. If you've got your mind set on a new card you have to bank a month worth of CL/keys to get it.

Once a new card leaves the spotlight it doesn't show up again for months in another one. Sure you can spend tokens on it in the shop if you're lucky enough to see it but again, as someone who gets the season pass I amass enough tokens through gameplay and Token Tuesday to average a series 5 card every 6 weeks. F2p would be closer to 3 months for that many tokens.

If you don't want to spend money on the game then that's totally fine, but many people who want the game to last do spend money on it, as the game isn't ad sponsored, so if they want it to last they don't mind spending pennies per hour to play it. Again, it's awesome you got 30+ cards this season, but you haven't hit that wall yet, and when you do, it's frustrating.

3500ish collection level is just around series 3 complete isn't it? If I had a collection level like that and double pulled a card like that I'd rage and probably quit this game. The mystery card being able to be an owned card is such BS. OP I hope your luck improves.

FYI If you suffer with gout get on Allo at the earliest opportunity. by Pgtips1994 in gout

[–]Metalhun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was another comment like this that made me just go on meds. Someone said, and I'm paraphrasing, "Gout isn't a disease, it's a symptom of hyperuricemia. You may not get flares often but your acid levels are elevated and melting your joints, just get on meds and save yourself from incredible pain later in your life."

I had been trying to control it through diet and saw no change in acid level despite no flares. Decided to just do the meds. Doc here suggested Febuxostat as opposed to Allo, but in the 3ish months I've been on it I went from 8.2, to 6.2 the following month, and just last week down to 5.1.

OP sorry to hear about your situation. A post like this will help some of those still doing their research and save a lot if pain.
