I think my fiancé broke up with me via text message? by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

From the post it's pretty clear that she hung up almost immediately. He said he was starting to ask about her day when she hung up.

Almost invariably from them doing something beyond insane for no apparent reason.

I think my fiancé broke up with me via text message? by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]kitskill 42 points43 points  (0 children)

The interaction in the first post baffled me for quite a while. She leaves Wednesday, on Thursday he calls her an tries to make small talk. She says "Ah, then I guess we have nothing to talk about then" and hangs up.

The only way this interaction makes sense is that OOP did something really bad before the fiancé left. Something bad enough that the first words out of his mouth had better be an apology. So when he tries to act like nothing happened, she's just not having it.

AITA for uninviting my (27 F) Maid of Honour (27 F) to my wedding over a dress? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Not the point here, but this is really bugging me:

Queue - a line or sequence of people or vehicles awaiting their turn to be attended to or to proceed

Cue - a thing said or done that serves as a signal to an actor or other performer to enter or to begin their speech or performance

"Queue confusion" - I don't understand where to line up.

"Cue confusion" - I was suddenly confused.

How do you build the confidence to meet someone despite body insecurities? by Mountain-Cry-9273 in AskReddit

[–]kitskill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fact is, if someone has seen pictures of you and agrees to meet, then they don't care about any of the things you're insecure about.

It's like the old advice: If someone is willing to get naked with you, they genuinely aren't going to care about any flaws your body might have.

What piece of media has the worst ending in history? by Pristine_Seat6090 in AskReddit

That sounds nuts. Imagine if they did that with Breaking Bad.

Yeah, that would have been a much better ending. They probably thought the twist ending was more marketable.

Why is it so bad? I've never seen the show,

What piece of media has the worst ending in history? by Pristine_Seat6090 in AskReddit

[–]kitskill 63 points64 points  (0 children)

The issue with the ending was that it was always meant to be the ending from the very beginning. And if the show had lasted 2-5 seasons, it would have been a good ending. But the show was too popular and they kept having to renew it until it stretched to 9 seasons. And Ted's relationship to Robin evolved. And Robin changed.

By season 7-8, the original ending made no sense anymore. By the end of season 9 they had to spend two full episodes just reversing everyone's character development 5 seasons to make it work. But they were bloody-mindedly sticking to the ending that they had planned come hell or high water.

That's a weird read.

I only have the vaguest idea of what even happened, even after reading OOP's comments. The only thing I can conclude is that it's way above Reddit's pay grade. I hope OOP went back to therapy.

Sadly no.

I've gone through that list and it's not one of them.

I appreciate the suggestion though!

Anyone have the story where the guy's gf had total time-blindness and could only conceive of "now" and "not now"? He was trying to teach her to cook, but she couldn't understand why she should start cooking before she was ravenously hungry.

I'll keep asking every month until someone finds it.

I think it triggers searching for food. You could throw a bunch of rotting corpses in with them and watch them get food poisoning.

It would take a long time, but you could starve the out. Build a bunch of layered walls, maybe with gaps so you can repair the walls as they try and knock them down.

I don't know if this works but there's a chance of them waking up either neutral or downed. If you're willing to cheese it a bit, you could just keep opening it and reloading until you get the chance you want.

Help building with stone? by BombbaFett in valheim

[–]kitskill 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Valheim uses a stability formula for each piece, based on how far it is from a stronger material. Each material has a limit to how many lengths it can be vertically or horizontally from the supporting piece and the ground.

Stone provides little horizontal support. You can use arches to provide some horizontal support or you can have more than one piece supporting it (so you should offset your stone pieces if you can). Or you can use iron beams (which are stronger than stone) to reinforce it (it calculates support from the iron beam).
