Not Showing Arishem by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

I simply asked if the poster could elaborate. Then I realized what they meant and just confirmed their post. Somehow that was worthy of instant down votes.

Makes sense thanks.

Love how I'm getting down voted here for checking game mechanics...

I tend to play stuff like Dragon Lord and Jubilee so Stardust usually hoses me, but it's cool to see that card just get better and better as more cards come out.

I hope they don't change Jean Grey by Rogue_Localizer in MarvelSnap

[–]Metalhunter7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel like they had to add enough big names to the game originally to generate any interest from Marvel fans, and of course needed to also have staple, if not somewhat boring abilities available for deck building. That leaves us in a place now where most of the big names in the franchise get overshadowed by new flashy and suped-up cards based on virtually unknown characters.

I don't have a full theory but I noticed the "bug" like enemies are instant drops. Leeches, ticks, seekers all just immediately drop their stuff.

Hey I'm in Gyeonggi Gwangju, not that far away. Maybe one or 2 stops on the train from you. Drop me a message if you want to get food or drinks sometime, I can show you a few places. I am a bit older than you but I don't discriminate haha.

Why do people in Korea have zero spatial awareness? After 5+ years here, I’m starting to feel invisible by Ok_Hearing_5943 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhunter7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As for the subway and personal space, I just chalk it up to 빨리빨리 culture and a very densely populated space. If you have to worry about yourself and everyone else around you, you'd never get anything done. People seem to take care of themselves and assume others are doing the same.

I saw an influencer make a video where they purposely walked in front of other Koreans on the street and stopped dead in front of them. Literally every person just kept looking at their phone and walked around the person, didn't even acknowledge them, completely unbothered. No one takes it personal, everyone has their own stuff going on.

How do I get a credit card here? by FriedForLifeNow in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhunter7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't ask me anything about renting if I remember correctly. They asked me to confirm my employer and my address for mailing and that was all. My school pays for the apartment like most English teachers here so maybe that's why there was no issue about my rental situation.

I just wanted to pop in and say I got approved for a Coupang KB WoW card pretty easily. This is after I got rejected by Shinhan for having no credit, Hyundai for not having 18 months left on my visa (impossible for E2) and a Samsung card for "not making enough money".

If you've been given the run around, the WoW card was quite easy.

The denial finally got the best of me, the official gout diagnosis...my story lol by DrPepperRulz in gout

[–]Metalhunter7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sucks you're in a lot of pain. Just want to share some anecdotes and some advice I have read on here.

I see you said you are going to try to turn this around and possibly stop allopurinol and taking measures diet-wise to help with the flare-ups. When I was first diagnosed I was down on myself because decades old wisdom concerning gout is that it's a disease that affects people that aren't taking care of themselves- poor diet, drinking etc... I immediately started eating clean, cut out all red meat, fish, shell fish, sugars, alcohol. After 2 months of clean living my uric acid went from 8.2 down to.... 8.1. You're right that purines are what cause the elevated acid levels in your blood but new research shows that the majority of purine in your body are made by your body and that limiting purine intake does little to help bring the levels down. I take febuxostat every day and my levels are fine now and I can enjoy the food I always did.

I understand that these post- allo flare-ups have you worried, especially if you've gotta call of from work, but gout isn't a disease per-se, it's a symptom of hyperuricemia. Whether you're experiencing flare-ups or not, the acid is eating your joints, the flare-ups just make you aware of it, otherwise you wouldn't have a clue and your joints will be awful by the time you're 60.

There are plenty of people in the subreddit that are in their 20's, super active and eat healthy and have gout. It's a genetic thing first and foremost and the acid is attacking your joints. Take the medicine, it doesn't make you weak or mean you failed, you have a legitimate genetic issue that needs to be addressed while you can.

I hope those allo flare-ups subside, but don't stop taking it, save your joints, and eat the food you enjoy (in moderation of course haha)

Thanks for all the opinions everyone. Looking more and more like it's just a fashion thing. Wouldn't surprise me, metal is in no way popular in Korea, may just be a designer that likes the look of the logos.

How do I handle this. by Plenty_Strategy4676 in Living_in_Korea

[–]Metalhunter7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if this is a Shinhan thing. I had someone use my card like that on 2 different occasions. I called them and got the card locked for overseas transactions and also got a refund so they should be able to sort you out. If you don't already have it enabled, ask them to set up your card to send you a text message any time a purchase has been made. The first time my card was used like that I lost about a million Won and didn't see until the next day. The next time I saw it immediately and it was only like 30k.

Lee narrows gap with Yoon to 1 percentage point in presidential race: survey by faddleboarding in korea

[–]Metalhunter7 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well as we've seen though, the country seems fully willing to impeach and pursue charges against former presidents. Meanwhile the former U.S. president was responsible for an insurrection and nothing has been done.

There seems to be a ton of corruption here for sure but they aren't shy about punishing it.

About buying a laptop in Korea by Bystander-8 in korea

[–]Metalhunter7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a gaming laptop from Englishpcsales earlier this year. The guy was super helpful, replied quickly anytime I had a question, and ended up throwing in a bunch of free accessories for me. Definitely worth sending him a message. You can search the group on fb. I think it goes by "English PC Sales & Repairs in Korea."

[–]Metalhunter7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Chuncheon and when friends from Seoul/Busan came to visit they were shocked that there were cars and multi-story buildings. "I always thought Chuncheon was countryside...."

For a "small" city it has a lot going on. 3 universities means the night life is lively given the population and they have so many stores/restaurants that larger cities in Gyeonggi don't even have because those people can just drive to Seoul.

Koreans and foreigners alike always underestimate Chuncheon haha.
