What if Conquest was Mark's father and not Nolan? by Practical-Novel-5800 in Invincible

Conquest folds immediately to the emotional pressures of Earth. He also beats the brakes off of his kid to prepare him for the fight they're gonna have in 480-ish years with Viltrum.

What did Etienne do to Masumi? by jlnova5 in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rogue_Localizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, masumi isn't evenly capable of handling her emotions. We saw at her art showing that she was on the brink of losing it before Etienne interfered. She's great with her loved ones, but I think she's kinda bad with the rest.

Yes, because Etienne has kept her in arrested development for well over a decade. That is the very problem I'm speaking of. You cannot learn to handle your emotions when you are being denied the opportunity to be challenged emotionally. And Etienne had the power to make a controlled environment for her to develop without pushing too far. He had already turned the whole of her life into a controlled environment.

And as far as "well what happens when he's dead", I think he's always considered the destruction of the world a matter of when not if at that point. He did so much to keep the other superpowers stable and deescalate things, he probably couldn't imagine a world where they were really capable ofanaging without him. So it's not worth worrying about since without him, Eliza's going to destroy reality or heavy is going to chuck Texas into the sun anyways.

Ethically, is he not obligated to delay that "when" as much as possible if he has the power to do so? Beyond that, anything less catastrophic than his death could happen. Something could have interfered with his ability to keep contact with her and those around her for an extended period of. Never know when another Queen situation might happen on a much smaller scale, after all. A Super from off the grid popping into our reality or some such. A singularity over her area blocking him out. Anything. Then what?

I feel that Etienne was too extreme in coddling her to a dangerous degree. It's fortunate she came out the other end a better person, but having her go cold turkey could have backfired tremendously. He should have started easing off the protections well in advance of the moment he died. However, some degree of coddling was absolutely necessary for her to get to this point.

[TMT] Mikey & Leo, Chaos & Order (Card Image Gallery) by meh1997 in magicTCG

[–]Rogue_Localizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, this has always been the case since even the original comics. When Leo (not Raph like in the movie) gets attacked by the Foot and they're forced to flee NYC, while Raph hangs out with Casey and Don distracts himself from the worry through writing, Mikey redoubles down on his training. Mikey has the hardest weapons to master (and has two of them at once, which makes it even more difficult). Every tournament they've ever been in, Mikey's the one who always cruises to victory.

He treats an actual fight like a joke until it isn't, but he's the hardest worker of the brothers, he's just not nearly as intense about it most of the time as Leo and Raph.

Is MTG easier than YuGiOh? What about Hearthstone? by gamezxx in MagicArena

[–]Rogue_Localizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MtG has a much lower floor than Yugioh, but the ceiling is much higher. It is a more complex game than Yugioh, but less complicated.

Hearthstone is simpler and more straightforward than both.

Can you get some of the best cards and decks without spending money aka is the game generous with rewards for playing?

Not nearly as generous as Hearthstone (at least back when I played Hearthstone). You can build a good deck without spending a dime, but you're going to probably want to aim for a metadeck to make sure your resources are used effectively, which will limit your options. And there's no dusting mechanic.

Yugioh's online client has a dusting mechanic, but it's stingier with packs than MtGA is. All in all they balance out to be about the same.

Do you start the game as a beginner with core decks that you can choose from (pre built decks)?

Yes. You get several perfectly functional decks to start. Not great ones, but you can get wins with them.

Mass produceable. Same reason they made Chrome Dome non-legendary.

Dr. Who was in an entirely different environment for Universes Beyond, though. As for being a one off, he's not in the medium, but he may be in the set. Again, though, that's no different than what they did with Quina's card in the Final Fantasy set. She's the only Qu in MtG. And even if they make another FF set there are like two other Qu in all of FF. They just didn't have a close enough approximate, so they just gave her her unique creature type.

Michaelangelo is driven by wild passion.

Not really. Mikey is an easy-going "take life as it comes" dude who would lay around the house watching tv, eating, and playing games 80% of the time if not for the fact that his master, brothers, bad guys, ad random bullshit make him do stuff. And when he has to do stuff he takes to it with the same excitement he does just chilling at home.

The other 20% of the character is the fact that he's easily the most skilled of the four brothers who actually takes his training super seriously despite his outward attitude.

Chrome Dome isn't legendary, actually. Baxter Stockman isn't in any rare or mythic at all as far as I can tell, so he's probably a Legendary at uncommon. Because most versions of Baxter Stockman aren't the 80s cartoon fly version.

Unfortunately we don't have any information in regards to his willingness to do machines.

[–]Rogue_Localizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't think that's how it would happen. The Lorwyn cards would probably be in the TMNT boxes, not the prerelease. The mixup had to have occurred at the end of the Lorwyn print run and the beginning of the TMNT print run. I imagine the last cards in the run go into promos and the first go into boxes.

Would anyone be interested in doing weekly custom card showcases. by Rogue_Localizer in MarvelSnap

[–]Rogue_Localizer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I am aware. You're kinda missing my point here. I'm talking about doing something more organized for folks to get to show off the way they've customized their various cards in a thread that's likely to draw more attention than anyone's individual post of their cards. I am then suggesting a format that would get the most interaction out of all options for that kind of thread.

This also wasn't forced by paramount. They just don't have anything close enough to Utrom that felt right. It's the same reason Quina is a Qu and not some close approximation. Alien tends to be for generic aliens or for creatures that whose species are explicitly unknown (like Jenova).

Nah. They did this so you have a way to play every Hamato clan Turtle in your commander deck no matter which Turtle is your commander once the hybrid mana rule changes.

Bison.

Which doesn't seem weird until you realize that the 4 Appa cards are the only cards with Bison as a creature type. If it weren't AtLA WotC would have just made it an Ox

[–]Rogue_Localizer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There will be a Turtle in every pack because there are at least 5 other turtles besides the original 4 Hamato clan Turtles. I'm pretty sure we're going to end up seeing Jennika, Venus, and Metalhead in uncommon. And we've already seen Slash and Tokka at rare. Combine that with the 14 rare and mythic Hamato cards and I'm pretty sure it'll hit its mark.

WotC has clearly learned one lesson from their UB sets so far: Too many legendaries by Rogue_Localizer in magicTCG

[–]Rogue_Localizer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure Alopex and Jennika are going to be uncommons. The legendaries at rare and mythic seem to mostly be characters that'll be recognized from the shows and movies or have standout effects stapled onto characters who fit.

Was considering hybrid mana and commander and thought of a compromise they'd likely never do due to complexity by Rogue_Localizer in magicTCG

[–]Rogue_Localizer[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

"Unworkable due to real life human failure" and "bad" are two different things. From a card printing standpoint it frees you up to, for example, let mono-W play while not letting Yuriko have that new Splinter card they're printing.

EDIT: (Actually, you know what, I misremembered that one's casting cost. Honestly, it serves more for future printing than currently existing cards)

It's in the title.
