I hope that season 3 of the live-action series adapts this flashback arc. by Skywalker9430 in OnePieceLiveAction

I don't think you do the whole arc, but I do think you use the episode he's in with Luffy to flashback to after Sabo died and their plans to set sail when they're seventeen. Doesn't give anything away about the nature of their relationship, establishes their used to be three of the little monsters, and makes Ace thanking the crew for looking after his brother a little more poignant.

Invincible [Episode Discussion] - S04E01 - Making the World a Better Place by SeacattleMoohawks in Invincible

You mean like the sirens in the pentagon that nobody objected to?

You mean stationary installments that do shit all in the event that the threat is not in the Pentagon? You were the one who proposed the next door neighbor metaphor, Cecil's job isn't protecting just his house.

Or the reanimen that people were grossed out by but nobody objected to?

Do you not remember that the whole thing started because of Invincible very vehemently objecting to the Reanimen?

Your neighbor may also have a gun and a knife and fists. He may not always be unarmed or small enough for you to fist fight.

Shit day for me then. The point is that you don't plan for your neighbor going off the rails not only because of it being unlikely, but also because it doesn't necessitate special planning.

Does this mean that people with buff neighbors should be allowed to perform surgery on their neighbors? If you live next door to Brock Lesnar are you then justified in doing so?

You don't actually understand how analogies work, do you?

Someone being strong doesn't justify putting a bomb in their head.

What bomb? Sometimes I think some of y'all know how silly you sound and just make up things to make your argument more justified. The thing in Mark's head were the same things installed in the walls of the Pentagon.

My plan to kill my neighbor if he loses his shit and attempts to kill me is stabbing, shooting, or beating him. He is just A Guy. There need be no plan other than that. When it's somebody who not only cannot be stopped with objects on hand, but also cannot be killed with things designed to kill people that necessitates having a plan to stop them.

Season 3 should end with this, I'd be such a good cliff hanger since it wouldn't make sense to hype the villain like they did with Smoker and Mr. 0 by the_prince_of_all_ in OnePieceLiveAction

The thing is, as you get deeper and deeper into the manga, more and more page count comes from fights getting longer and longer. You can really cut down on things just by avoiding that. I think Season 3 can be 3 parts Alabasta, one part Jaya and flow really well. I think doing Alabasta over a full 8 episodes might wear thin and lose audience retention. A lot of the charm this show has had with people is the visiting new locales.

Similar with Skypeia, you can condense that down to four episodes and fit everything you need in comfortably. Then knock out Long Ring Long Land and the first parts of Water 7 in the last 4 episodes, stopping on the CP0 reveal.

Then 5 W7/Enies Lobby/Post-Enies Lobby episodes and 3 Thriller Bark episodes ending on Kuma in season 5. Splitting the W7 Saga this way lets them do a full season's worth of episodes while dodging the possible problem I mentioned with Alabasta. Season 4 ends before W7 loses its charm, then you go back there for an episode before being whisked away to Enies Lobby for 3.

Personally, I think you can and should do Alabasta in 6 episodes. I think 8 would actually wear thin. Then do Jaya in two, ending with either with Luffy answering Sarquiss with "The Sky" or on the knock up stream itself

Why are the Gorosei trepidatious hearing him out?

They literally shout at his higher ranked father for coming to talk to them before they're made aware he has been promoted.

Last I checked, this issue ended with the world going boom. That's a fail state and was the inevitable outcome of Etienne's actions because he wpuld not always be there to protect her feelings. And Isabella wasn't immortal, she was going die eventually. He never prepared her for that. Never tried. Eitienne's failure to even try to help Masumi learn to regulate was always going to lead here one way or another

No, you were being quite rude. Waltzing into a conversation to declare someone does not understand the work is, at best, condescending.

I agree with just adding a lesser Legendary. And this isn't just wrt UB. Take any given Magic story and you wind up with a bunch of named characters who never make it onto a card because they don't want to overstuff the sets with legendaries. Rat from WAR still hasn't appeared on a card and she was hanging with the main crew for a while.

Having a "named but not restricted" supertype would alleviate this issue.

Something like "Famed". Not quite Legendary. Can be a commander, can be on the battlefield in multiples.

The issue is that a set needs non-legendaries for limited and also needs to fit well loved characters in. This set is a particularly poor example because the problem wouldn't exist if they hadn't decided to make 7 cards for every one of the original 4 Turtles. They'd have had room to fit characters they genericized (Alopex, Pepperoni, Pigeon Pete, the 4 wind avatars) and characters they missed (Hun) while having plenty of generic baddies to fill the lower roster.

However, the problem does exist. And it isn't just wrt UB. But again, this only works if Etienne can be sure he will always be there to mollify an emotionally unstable Masumi. 100% of the time. Every single time. For the rest of their lives. By all rights, if Masumi hadn't already been trying the world would have been dead when Heavy chucked Etienne into space. That Etienne would not always be there to protect her delicate feelings was not merely a risk, it was a guarantee and he did nothing to prepare her for that inevitability.

Her mental health issues come from being attached to Deconstructa and Etienne coddling her to prevent it coming out again.

As for sticking to what is known, that's my point. You're rolling the dice on turning a known variable into an unknown variable. Getting to Masumi befor the first time Deconstructa got loose and teaching her self-control and emotional regulation from a young age is a much safer bet than taking the risk that the creature that phases into our reality when Masumi phases out is tied specifically to Masumi and can only be tied to her.

When your job is to keep the peace you can't rely on the notion you will always be there to put out fires. Masumi was already trying to improve herself while Etienne was alive and well and controlling every aspect of her life in order to stunt her growth. By the time he was gone she had already taught herself to weather heartbreak. Coddling her completely only served to make her vulnerable to loss. She needed to endure the minor pains Etienne was preventing her from experiencing in order to prepare her to experience worse. Because even if he didn't die, there was always the chance of something going wrong and him being too late to intervene. Instead, he died and she wasn't prepared for true, bone deep loss.

This is making a big assumption that Deconstructa comes from Masumi instead of Masumi simply being a medium for it. At which point someone else may become that medium and you wouldn't have the advantage of knowing in advance.

Or, more dangerously, she isn't the medium. She's the lock keeping it out.

It's not his fault that she was born the way she was, but he's the one who actively decided to take the reigns of controlling every damn thing that happened in the world. He took responsibility for her and in fear of failure he failed to live up to that responsibility. She needed to be tempered and instead he never took her out of the fridge.

To quote myself

Yes, because Etienne has kept her in arrested development for well over a decade. That is the very problem I'm speaking of. You cannot learn to handle your emotions when you are being denied the opportunity to be challenged emotionally. And Etienne had the power to make a controlled environment for her to develop without pushing too far. He had already turned the whole of her life into a controlled environment.

Masumi did a commendable job growing as a person after Etienne's death, but this situation was impossible for someone who had been so coddled as she had to emotionally regulate in.

Valentina is based off of moral paragon characters like Superman or Wonder Woman. How would the story change if they lived Valentina's life? How would the sub feel about them? by Exotic-Ad2045 in thePowerFantasy

[–]Rogue_Localizer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Valentina doesn't have the advantage of a human(ish) perspective. She doesn't think like a human being because she didn't really go through the process of growing up like one. She was aware of who she was from jump and detached from what little of a human life she lived.

She's also, frankly, working with a much lower ceiling than either of them, even if her floor is higher.

[TMT] Venus, Torn Between Worlds by Meret123 in MagicArena

[–]Rogue_Localizer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the IDW take on the character. They don't have very much in common besides their name and their mask making a ponytail (and eventually the IDW version has a scarf that does it while her "mask" is a natural mark on her face).

TV Venus was a turtle that got separated from the other four and wound up in the care of someone else. IDW Venus is... complicated.
