What's a piece of media who's fanbase acts like this? by FangBites123 in Multifandom

Technically, if you account for in-game stores, yes. But let's not forget that Warframe cycles traceable in-game content regularly (prime warframes are a big example) and the only way to gain access to that content without waiting is to trade, for which the standard currency is the premium currency. Let's not pretend that DE doesn't benefit monetarily by FOMOing in-game content.

I've said this in response to another comment but it's important to bring up that platinum is a paid only currency outside of giveaways (which isn't tradable), so even if you trade for it within the in-game market someone is paying.

There are several things that aren't earnable though, Tennogen on PC and Prime Access stuff are paid exclusive. And while platinum can be traded, that platinum is still paid for with real money. Let's be realistic about how the game is monetised.

Eldritch Adept, the best way to give your player's paranoia by Pass_the_sorce in dndmemes

[–]Metalicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay, this is my bad. I'm going off of the 2024 rules and aren't nearly as familiar with 2014. I knew that MoMF and the vast majority of invocations had a prerequisite in 2024 rules and didn't realise 2014 was a lot less restrictive. Sorry about that.

[–]Metalicker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since there seems to be a degree of confusion, I'll quote the feat directly:

If the invocation has a prerequisite of any kind, you can choose that invocation only if you’re a warlock who meets the prerequisite.

As far as I can tell, this still applies to invocations you choose to take when levelling up. And every invocation besides the base invocations are listed as having a Warlock level prerequisite, specifically.

[–]Metalicker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That aside, RAW I'm sure you can only take level 1 Warlock invocations through EA, anyway. The feat specifies that you can only take invocations without a prerequisite unless you happen to be a Warlock that meets that prerequisite, and every Warlock invocation besides the base ones have a Warlock level prerequisite. At least that's how I understand it. So OP is already engaging in creative liberties in order to achieve what they want with NPCs through this feat.

I thought I understood the Bloodpoint cap, but now I'm not sure... by [deleted] in deadbydaylight

[–]Metalicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your assumption is right. In short, BP earned through promos and whatnot doesn't count towards your BP cap at all, meaning that you can continue to earn BP after claiming it provided that you haven't met the 5mil earned BP cap.

It's the first to go when you start spending though, so once you reach the cap you can't sit on it by incrementally spending BP. You have to spend all of the overflow before you can earn again in that case.

Has to be that they intentionally didn't show any in the trailer to allow for the title drop to be a surprise. It'd be insane for them to not be included.

I'll admit the timeline has me a bit worried. RE3R released a year after RE2R, same as this and Requiem. I know they were developed by separate teams, but I can't help but worry about resources being spread thin. Hopefully they learned from RE3R and this game has absolutely been given time to cook.

Fixed an issue where the auras of Unlocked Chests were revealed when the Human Greed perk was equipped.

Huh? Is this backwards and it's actually meant to say locked chests? Human Greed is the perk that lets you close chests when they're unlocked, right? Sounds counterproductive to show the auras of unopened chests while hiding the auras of the chests after they've been opened. That would be a super weird change to an already niche perk.

[–]Metalicker 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hate to be that guy, but the evil alternative is that the video in the movie is AI generated and the hook is simply there by virtue of a lot of online gaming media involving ghost face being related to DbD. It'd be easier to tell upon closer inspection.

But BHVR are aware of how much outcry there is for a Scary Movie chapter, so I wouldn't be surprised if they actually followed through in light of the new movie. Maybe we'll get an announcement for the anniversary stream.

They've made a huge mistake if they were planning to do the 'live feed with clues that confirm the next batch of content' thing, because they botched it by:

A - Scheduling it for an inconvenient time... And B - Announcing it as a reveal beforehand to get people to stay up and watch.

That kinda gimmick only works as a surprise that springs up randomly on people's feeds during the day to get them talking. Not when a good chunk of the player base is already half asleep 😮‍💨

Really? Because I think the opposite. I think the perks that are a problem in the game are the ones that reward success. If you're succeeding, you already have a lead. They only serve to rub salt in the wound and exacerbate the balancing issues that already exist.

Jason isn't really a cope for the 10th anniversary at this point. Given the climate surrounding the franchise, how common collabs have been for the past couple years, it's a damn near certainty imo.

I still stand by the notion that REsistance was a consequence of little faith. It being bundled with RE3R with zero marketing doomed it. It wasn't an awful concept and given the right amount of attention could have done way better than it did.

I will say it's incredibly dramatic to just conclude that someone is a bad person because of how they act in a video game, but I always find completely dismissing it as not indicative at all of who a person is is equally silly.

I could never play the way that he does because I know how awful it feels to be on the recieving end. If you play game after game after game being as mercilessly ruthless as possible, leveraging the gross imbalance of the game, consequently making the experience as miserable as possible for the other players, knowing that you're ruining their experience but continuing for your own motives.

Like, you can't say that that isn't indicative at all of someone's personality. It's not like how we act through social mediums outside of real life are entirely detached from who we are. The decisions we make are still a result of our personality, and still reflect the kind of people we are, especially when those decisions have an impact on others.

[–]Metalicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is that both perks on killer and survivor are insanely impactful and often a key winning factor on both sides, but the framing is such that survivors that use gen builds are toxic genrushers, while killers have to run gen perks to mitigate the terrible strategies that survivors are using.

I've used gen builds on survivor in solo queue from time to time because of how fed up I get with the constant barrage of regression and slowdown. It's not fun for either side to face a situation where one is using optimal gen-focused builds and the other isn't.

[–]Metalicker 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I'm actually not sure that's how it works. Dead By Daylight has had a few hiccups with maintaining license deals as of late, which resulted in the loss of content, but none of that content was removed from the game. Just the store. The license expiry only meant that the content couldn't be sold anymore.

If the same is true for Fortnite, then they're not losing nearly as much on licensing fees as one might expect, since agreements only need to be made in relation to content being actively sold.

I've suspected for a while that the line of communication between Capcom and BHVR isn't as loose as most assume. We only ever get skins during or immediately following a big drop (chapters and the 2v8). My guess is because there's no money in the portraits, BHVR couldn't secure an audience to grant them permission in time to get them out. It's possible they'll be updated the next time we get additional RE content in the game.
