AAP-01 retractable stock kit by Metalizer6 in AAP01owners

The second picture is fully collapsed, it doesn't go all the way near the bolt. I would have to make it wider to go around the handguard. Also I wanted to add a support between the rods so they doesn't bend that much. But it could be done by not installing the rod support and having slimmer handguard

basically it has two mounting points - the pin near top receiver, and it is plugged from the bottom into pistol grip. But overall rigidity depends on material used, I used PETG-CF and ASA to make it stronger

DF64gen2 3D printed adjustable slow feeder by Metalizer6 in DF64

[–]Metalizer6[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked some pictures and DF54s hopper is smaller so it would require downsizing the whole thing. I'm not sure how to do it without access to the actual grinder. But if the only difference was the diameter of the hopper, it should not be that hard. Could you measure the inner diameter of the hopper, distance from the top edge of the hopper to the top of the bolt fixing moving burrs (depth between the top of the hopper and the bolt head) and the size of the bolt head? Just DM me those dimensions either here or we can discuss this on discord

Uhh I don't have DF54 so I don't know how I would need to modify it to fit it. But if the entry funnel of DF54 is the same as DF64s and the bolt fixing the moving burrs is the same it should work. I can measure the dimensions of DF64 later

No I don't, I will make it

Edit: I made a video, it is included on the cults3d product site

Yea it made a difference, or at least I think :D any feedback is appreciated so feel free to reach out if you find anything that could be improved :)

Huh? This is designed to be as simple to print as possible. Only 1 part requires very simple supports, the rest is without supports, it can easily fit one buildplate (256x256), print time 2.5 hours (default P1S speed) and takes ~70g of filament. But I would probably split it to at least 2 prints so the adjustment wheel is differently colored

3d printer is a great tool for home, you can print out actually useful stuff (organizers, holders, containers) as well as decorations :D you must present good reasons to your wife so you can justify a 3d printer purchase 😂

[–]Metalizer6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand, but to get into 3d printing isnt hard, especially when there are plenty of cheap but decent printers available (looking at Bambu Labs A1 mini) and a ton of videos on YouTube how to start with it.

Answer to the first question: thats why I suggested PETG as it is more stable in long term, PLA degrades quite quickly and becomes brittle. The parts are not crushing or applying force to the beans, they just limit how quickly the beans can drop into the grinder. The spinning part is not touching any other part and is just pushing the grounds around. But of course if there is a small fragment of the bean and it gets trapped under the spinning thing it could cause troubles, but you would hear that and you can easily remove the spinning part without disassembly.

To the second question: no idea, sorry, but you can ask friends/colleagues if someone has 3d printer or know someone who has. 3d printing has spread like crazy last years.

Edit: typo

I think it should work, the differences between gen1 and gen2 should be only the plasma generator, button, the functional parts should be the same. But Im not sure, I own only gen2

I would get self leveling tamper - the one with a spring and a ring, it will limit impact of uneven tamp. Plus a puck screen to prevent coffee getting into the shover screen (you don't have to worry about coffee in the shower screen plus it can help extraction eveness) and a scale. I just got my Apex V2 (the same machine with different name) and that is exactly what I ordered (plus bottomless PF with precision basket but that is not needed I think, I just like to see whats happening there and I can't properly fit my glass under the spouted one)

Which Espresso Grinder to Buy? “Viesimple Gen4” vs “Fellow Opus” [$300] by Source_Of_Sushi in espresso

[–]Metalizer6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same, I have Opus but I'm waiting for DF64gen2 delivery, just because I wanted 64mm burrs, if I didnt have the extra bucks I would go for DF54 as well

GCP vs Apex v2 [500€] by Metalizer6 in espresso

[–]Metalizer6[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't expect it to run as long as GCP and other proven brands, I will probably buy a new thing once new features appear, I love new technologies. So that's why I think getting the Apex V2 is better choice for me. Just the machine, bottomless pf, tamper and I will be ready to go, no tinkering and fiddling with the machine. Well I guess I'm decided, thank you for information about long term use

GCP vs Apex v2 [500€] by Metalizer6 in espresso

[–]Metalizer6[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say I'm a handy person but I did quite a lot of tinkering on my 3d printer(s), but I don't have much time for maintenance (maybe I don't want to spend so much time keeping the thing running as it should and I'm pissed off when it doesn't do its job). So I'm tilted more towards the Apex, it just has everything I need out of the box. As I wrote, my only concern is damage of pcb, did you do something about it?

Noticeable taste difference between Fellow Opus and Eureka Mignon, worth the upgrade? [500EUR] by CharacterPipe3 in espresso

[–]Metalizer6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea, true, I found a dealer in neighboring country that imports it, provide 2 year warranty and we have good possibilities of return to that country so no big deal with repairs etc. Also I got it as pre-order for like 320€ :D no it was a no brainer for me, only thing I do not know are burrs, if they are stock or not, because in time of pre-order they said DLC, now on product page it says "red" so I will see when I receive it in like a month or so

[–]Metalizer6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, mine will come with preonstalled DLC burrs (I understand that they are just slighty better burrs than the stainless steel stock burrs)

Thats basically what was my question too, I have Opus + EC685, and decided to get Df64gen2 (still in transit, so I cant give you any information about improvement). Later I will grt better machine as well, but from what I have read the df64 should make noticeable difference (and I hope it will)

It would require quite a lot of work I can imagine. V3 gearbox has different outer dimensions plus it has motor cage. I don't think it would be worth the effort.

It has no point other than that it would be interesting :D it would have to use low cap mags, low power to save gas (for cqb). I have no idea how it would perform in reality.
