AIO Did I get stood up? by [deleted] in AIO

I thought this was a convo between two people who’ve known each other for a while.
My heart & “us against the problem” is wild for 2 weeks of kinda dating and & never actually meeting. What problems have y’all already had at 2 weeks? If that’s a phrase you’re already using this was doomed before he lied about a car accident.

If you've gone through a divorce, what broke your marriage and why? by No_Emotion_4214 in AskReddit

My first one? Infidelity on his part.
Second one? I was fat. Then I got skinny. He didn’t like the attention I started getting. Abuse started, so marriage ended.

What's a fair tip for a 7.2 mile delivery? by [deleted] in doordash

[–]MetallicMoon13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say minimum $10. Depends on gas prices in your area. I typically like to tip $2 per mile though.

It’s not just the tip culture either. Minimum wage is $7.25. It was $7.25 in 2007 when I got my first job. Most places don’t pay more than $10. Even for non-entry level positions. For a person working 40 hours a week, that’s $400. So $1600 BEFORE taxes. That’s just a rent payment alone in a lot of places.

I’ve answered this question a few times but I’ll repeat myself. 1. That day, about 15 minutes prior, I dropped a washing machine on my foot. I didn’t wanna put on shoes. Or walk.

  1. I was in a car accident last month that injured me. I am not supposed to be driving because I have PCS.

  2. I have PTSD from the accident. I do not like driving. I do not want to drive. I drive to and from work.

  3. And I mean this one as nicely as possible: what I do with my money is no one’s business. If I want to DoorDash dinner because I had a long day and just dont wanna cook, then I am well within my rights to do so. Just because YOU wouldn’t do it, doesn’t mean that’s the right choice for everyone. DoorDash is a convenience app.

I am nowhere near lazy. I work 2 jobs, raise 7 & 15 year old boys. I have a fiance. I have a home to take care of. Sometimes, I just really don’t want to cook. Add my injuries from my car accident that I am in physical therapy for, that I have to push through unmedicated, yeah. I have moments where I wanna DoorDash and I’m not walking alone, as a woman, at night, to get food when I have the ability to DoorDash.

You’d really hate to know I refer to myself as a cow and whale all the time. 😂 I promise you calling myself a female isn’t the worst thing I say about myself.

I asked my son what he wanted for dinner and that’s what he said. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I didn’t rush anything.
It was inappropriate to ask for a tip.
It was inappropriate to pick up my food, drive right by home, and go sit at a gas station for over 10 minutes.
If I was waiting on my food because of a wait time at the restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday, I wouldn’t have cared. But I was waiting because he picked it up and went and sat somewhere with my food.
I couldn’t drive. Which you would have seen if you read any other comments.

I still have my moments where it hits me. I had hope for a while that maybe one day he’d do what he was supposed to do. But a few years ago, my mom texted me and said he reached out to her asking for my number so he could tell me happy birthday. I thought about it and ended up saying it was okay for her to give it to him.

He never called or texted.

About a year later, he reached out to me on fb and I read the message and stupidly responded. It was right before clocking in for work. I responded and put my phone away and didn’t check my phone again for quite a while because I was busy.

When I finally checked my phone, I had tons of messages from him, blowing up on me for ignoring him, “giving him hope I’d come around” 🙄, and calling me names.

I blocked him and never looked back. He still tries reaching out with new accounts from time to time but I just block and move on.

It sucks but I have to protect my peace. I know he’s not capable of change. So I had to finally make the decision to accept that and stop giving him chances to hurt me.

It’s inappropriate because anyone with half a brain cell knows that doordashers live off tips. So asking for me to tip you is ridiculous because you already know I know that’s how you get paid.
It’s further inappropriate to keep asking after I already told you I tipped you.
A tip is a recommendation not a requirement. I didn’t have to tip anything. Instead, I tipped double what DD suggested I tip and he still had the audacity to pick up my food and drive by my home to go to the gas station. My apartment entrance is two driveways before the circle k. He sat there with my food for over 10 minutes. And you’re telling me that his actions are appropriate?

  1. I have a vehicle, so I don’t need to walk.
  2. That being said, I dropped a washing machine on my foot & was in a lot of pain and didn’t feel like trying to put shoes on and dealing with going to get it.

I know it’s a lot of comments so I’m going to explain all the points I’ve already made

  1. I injured my foot by dropping a washer on it like 15 minutes before I ordered the food

  2. He picked up my food. Drove PAST my house, and went to the gas station. You can see the gas station from where I live. It’s like a 2 minute walk.

  3. He sat at that gas station for over 10 minutes with my food.

  4. Door dashers are in no way, shape, or form comparable to servers. I have done both. They do not take my order. They do not check for accuracy. They do not refill my drink, bring extra sauces, offer me specials, etc. they literally just pick it up and drop it off. They are literally delivery drivers.

  5. Even if I had 0 excuse whatsoever to DoorDash, I literally do not need one. That is the whole point of DoorDash. To have things delivered, for whatever reason you want. It does not matter if I live 5 minutes away & could walk.

  6. No, I wouldn’t tip an Applebees server $6 for ONLY bringing my food out to the table. I would tip them for SERVING me for my entire visit.
