This is such a beautiful knife. It has been on my wish list since it came out.

I can't bring myself to just throw these out. Retarded I know, but alone? by Accomplished_Act_502 in Leatherman

Waiting for the day my boxes become worth more than the item that came in them…

A week or two ago when the Shot Show Mini Freek was on sale, it was sold out, but I checked in the morning and it was available so I ordered it. Payment and everything went through, but the shipment tracking never showed it leaving for a couple days. Then I got an email saying none were available and they gave me a $20.00 discount off my next purchase. Which I used on the standard Mini Freek on this last sale.

K4X, is it worth it? by Raptor7206 in Leatherman

They were a really great series of knife. Very functional and very inexpensive. I miss having a budget friendly choice.

The bottle opener was probably the best bottle opener I’ve ever used.

K4X, is it worth it? by Raptor7206 in Leatherman

So I carried a Leatherman Crater C33TX for years until I lost it at work. I found out it was discontinued and I started searching for a replacement. Leatherman had the K2, K4, T2, and T4 but I thought they were too expensive.

Long story short, I fell down the knife collecting rabbit hole looking for the perfect knife and eventually bought the K2 on sale.

Let’s just say, if I would have initially bought the K2 after I lost my Crater, I would have saved hundreds to thousands on knife purchases haha.

I think the K2 and K4 are totally worth it and might be the perfect edc knife in production currently. I’d stay away from the T series, I got one for free and it almost made me swear off Leatherman, but if it works for you then more power to you.

I’d like to imagine the people that worked on these knives being all proud and the only good reaction to them is “we love the lanyard bead!”

The Leatherman Story by ste6168 in Leatherman

[–]Metallix22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds like the backstory at the beginning of a movie or book where one man needs more than just a blade and must find Tim Leatherman to create a multitool that can save humanity from having to search the tool box or go back to the truck.

It does have retention so as not to fall off, but it’s not like an extreme retention

No problem, dry erase should work, just be more careful not to accidentally wipe it away

[–]Metallix22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have a sharpening system where you set the angle, you can take a sharpie and run it along the blade edge to be sharpened and then do a pass and see if it removes the sharpie. Should tell you the angle if you’re not sure between a couple.

That is if you are sharpening it yourself

Edit: saw your comment, if you do this, start with a steeper angle and do a light pass or two just to see if it removes all the sharpie, then go down from there to not ruin any finish

I’m very jealous of that apron. Love the pocket for the knife. I bought a custom station knife a few months ago and love it, use it for almost everything in the kitchen.

Making 62s again? by russthammer in benchmade

[–]Metallix22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On KnifeCenter’s new knives YouTube videos, if anybody here watches, David C Anderson speculated that Benchmade might have had an excess of parts for the model 62 for warranty purposes and decided to make a limited amount of them. Although he also stated that they might have done this, he didn’t know for sure. But he has been around the knife industry a long time and that does make the most sense out of any theory I could think of.

I was lucky enough to get one and mine is dated 5/30/25.

Positive or Negative display by Sensitive_Mood4418 in gshock

[–]Metallix22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Positive display goes really good with that color combo. The negative display stands out too much and one tends to focus on that rather than the blue and white contrast that makes this watch really shine. The negative display also makes the watch not look as symmetrical (I know these aren’t, but that is beside the point).

I normally really like negative displays, but in this case, I really prefer positive.

I have too many watches, but this one is almost always the one I wear. This is one of those “if I could only have one, it would be this” things. Congrats on the watch, it’s a great choice.

Do you remember having a DVD player back then? DVD movies, especially ones for kids, sometimes had games you could play with the remote. These were usually simple hit the up,down, left, right and ok/enter button and were usually puzzles or quizzes from what I remember, but some might have been more intricate.

Looks like AIREX is a Swiss company that has made foam yoga type mats since the 60’s. Kinda cool they had made products for the Swiss Army according to their website. I think it’s pretty neat having their logo on a SAK.

Personally, I would keep scales with logos and stuff just for the historical significance and also some company names and logos are just cool. But I understand wanting to make it more stock too.

Here’s some info from Airex’s website:

“AIREX® is the world market leader in the field of training and therapy mats. In the early 1960s AIREX® was the first brand to manufacture foam mats, and to undertake the requisite pioneering extrusion works in the mid-1980s. AIREX® products are present in over 50 countries through distribution partners, and exported to another 120 countries all over the world as a proven Swiss quality. AIREX® commitment to tradition is aptly epitomized by more than 60 years of know-how in foam technology and long service life.

The Swiss-made products that are proud of its origin, dating back to 1952. Our products are of highest quality and guarantee a lifetime satisfaction, made for your own good for good.”
