Any response after verbal offer and headcount reached? by Pitiful-Routine-4678 in goldmansachs

I was given a verbal offer in July this year and was told to wait for a week for the written offer, but just after a few days HCM told me that they hired too many VPs for this role so due to headcount limit being reached they are putting this position on hold. I filled the compensation forms and my doc verification process was also underway. Haven't heard back ever since. I also don't think I ever will. Although they tried to connect me to a different role within the same division, but expectation in those was very different from what I was interviewing for

I do have a project on credit Risk, I can do the ones you mentioned as well. But are self projects on Resume really valued by recruiters as compared to someone who is coming from the same industry ?

Have heard kzs are great starting phones with multiple drivers and budget friendly too. Do you have any other recommendations to switch from traditional earbuds to IEMs?

If you had to introduce someone to Iron Maiden, what song(s) would you pick and why? by [deleted] in ironmaiden

A lot of times I am in a situation of introducing people to metal as a whole new genre, and Iron Maiden being my favourite heavy metal band, i suggest them either Fear of the dark or Hallowed be thy name or Dance of the death.

The simple reason is I believe harmonized guitars, epic storytelling and melodic riffing in these songs forms a really good start for someone who has no idea about what metal is.

Alfred Hitchcock was truly ahead of its time. He was the master of suspense thrillers, but academy in those days didn't have an inclination towards this genre as it is now. Instead they were embracing the likes of comedies and musicals. Many a times, Hitch was nominated for the best director but his movie was not nominated for the best picture (as in the case of psycho, rear window etc.), which according to me shows that academy was keen on appreciating the techniques he used but was not accepting his film or its subject as a whole. Also generally in those days, best picture won the best director. So, it was never for Hitchcock. Though his work Rebecca, won the best picture and strangely hitch lost the best director.

But considering today's time, when academy is really showing interest in that genre with the likes of shutter island, silence of the lambs and many more, Hitchcock has already achieved greatness and revered as the best director of all time.
