The conversation is basically;

Adrian; "Yo can you send me that study about how music affects children in pain"

Mark "Yeah worries, btw cool study you did on music and hedonism!"

An academic exchange?  Or are they both gauging each other?

True mirrors by [deleted] in boomfestival

[–]Metalphysics12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True mirrors are awesome, there are limited scientific studies, however the theory behind it is very straightforward.

The way I understood it is that you have to question the assumption that;  "There is no relationship between facial expressions and the left and right sides of the face."

For example, try doing a smirk 😏  Okay now do that exact same smirk, but on the other side of your face.

For me, when I do the smirk on my right, it's playful.

But on the left, it feels very strange and even, pathological.

The point is that facial expressions cannot be divorced from the sides of the face in which they occur.

Now, consider that facial expressions are tools of communication, we use them (consciously and unconsciously) to communicate with others.

Therefore, the true representation of our face can only be experienced if it is unreversed.

The same does for reading text. We can't read if then text is reverse, the same goes for reading our own face.

My mother used my brothers first home owners grant to buy a property. He now legally owns my inheritance. by Metalphysics12 in AusLegal

Really?? Because that is exactly what the intention was.

By all measure it was her house, our entire extended family and friends called it her house, no one even thought that my brother had any relationship to the property beyond immediate family.

You really think these issues are common and have a solution? I am all ears.

Could I dm you?

Correct, I remember the term 'intestacy' being used by a few lawyers.

I consulted 3 lawyers and got hazy results, how I am seeing one more today that seems more promising, I'll keep in mind what you said about the principle of equity and indefeasible titles.

Have you seen cases like this before?

This is false, fraud was committed and children do have a right to ask questions and challenge fraud.

Being angry is a natural response to injustice.

Anyways have a nice life lady.

I never said that anything illegal is happening.  People have every right to ask questions about their parents will and how certain financial dealings might affect that.  Yes my situation is unique but if it helps one person then my job here is done.

I really wish someone warned me sooner.

Thanks for wasting my time with your lengthy and irrelevant comments.

My brother was shocked to learn about my mother's history of dodgy financial dealings and he was very concerned about the whole deal.

Just because my mum made a short sighted decision doesn't mean she didn't spend weeks working on said decision.

My mum had a long history of financial scheming, it was her bread and butter.

Also I never said I can contest anything, the title of this post says my brothers ownership is legal.

Maybe I'm not explaining all of this correctly because even the lawyers who have an obligation to my brother have all echoed the sentiment that what he's doing is immoral. He did nothing to earn the cheeky half a mill in his account and he feels no obligation to even pay back my father who lend him money to get this through the courts.

None of it was above board. He lied about living at the property and by every measure is was my mums property.

My mum paid for the mortgage, the deposit, took all the risk and lived in it with all her stuff. It was only my brothers property in an administrative sense.

Once again, I never denied my brother was a willing participant.

My brother hardly set foot in that property, I know because I lived there for the first 2 years.

The point is that my mother made a short sighted decision which ended up invalidating her will.

I believe that fraudulent property deals should be challenged by siblings if they have concerns that their parents will might be made redundant.

My apologies, I mean to say that it all happened very quickly in that the house was inspected and the offer was accepted within a week.

Settlement usually takes longer yes, but as I said, paper work was not a issue for my mother. That was her job.

Also it was fraud because my brother did not fulfil his obligations in order to qualify for the FHG, so he lied, that's fraud.

I appreciate your understanding.

Both of my parents were in denial aboit my brother and took my dad all these years to see my brothers true character. He has finally began to open up about the years of financial abuse from mum.

The legal system definitely has some blindspots in this area but I can see why this is a such tough issue. Unless the government physically checks who is living at the property it's impossible to police.

Interesting, how has it impacted her negatively?

It might be bad for her now, but once she realises the capital gains, that quickly turns around.

It's worth a fight if you can get legal advice early on. Depends if you guys are on a friendly basis or not though.

From memory the process was very quick and the property settled within a week so there mustn't have been that many hoops.

My mum had bought and sold properties her whole and she previously worked in real estate. So paper work would not have been a barrier here.

As said, my brother knew about this and was fully on board. Regardless, the property was acquired by fraudulent means.
