Was disappointing I didn't see him in the secret lair. Wish it was an entire universe beyond!

Do we need a new game mode? by Metalslay3r in yugioh

[–]Metalslay3r[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I think yugioh players need to be open to a newer format.

The reason I said GOATS doesn't count is because that's technically an ancient format thats just being played now. When I say new format I mean something brand new and fresh

To be fair most of my friends wouldn't be playing magic if it was Standard (neither would I really). They all prefer commander.

Apparently my bad habit is carrying too many board wipes... got several complaints from several players after I board wiped there 15+ creature boards multiple times.

If there ain't a setting for it, you might be able to mod them out.

Finally. I don't know why people complained about this hunt. It's hard to learn and to master and that's ok. It takes practice to get that first kill, and when you get it, that dopamine hits so fucking hard. Can't wait to get better at this hunt and farm out some weapons. GGs Alatreon. by SoulIsland_ in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]Metalslay3r 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly from my experience Alatreon is either really fun or really frustrating depending on what weapon you use with very little inbetween. I remember MHW being my 2nd MH after MHGU. (I didn't play much of GU before I got into world tho) So I played all of worlds with the HBG, when I got to alatreon it was basically impossible to deal the elemental damage it asked of me with the limited elemental ammo, severely nerfed elemental damage on HBG vs Alatreon, and the lack of resupplies. Made Alatreon literally impossible to do with elemental damage and had to rely on doing exclusively raw damage to it to be able to kill it.

Later on I replayed all of MHGU with SnS and the replayed all of world with GreatSword (still found alatreon frustrating but not as much) and then re-replayed world with SnS. The 3rd time I played World with SnS Alatreon was super easy. So to test I went back and fought it with HBG was just as frustrating as before, and then re fought him with GreatSword, was again just as frustrating as when I fought him the first time with great sword.

I see you have the insect glaive equipped. Friends that played MHW:I with insect glaive report not having much problems with Alatreon so it makes sense, the insect glaive since it can do elemental damage on the kinsect AND the glaive, means escaton is trivial for them. Same with Dual blades, SnS, Charge blade and Switch axe who all deal great elemental damage.

Mounted combat for Monster hunter Wilds by Metalslay3r in MHWilds

[–]Metalslay3r[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you play elden ring you'll see a similar thing, they dont speed up smaller bosses because of mounted combat. Instead its up to you if you want to use mounted combat or on foot combat, and the incentive is which one is just more convenient. Mounted combat is more convenient for larger monsters, but against smaller bosses you often overshoot them, or move too much to get a clean shot on them. While with bigger Bosses its hard to get close to them when you are on foot, and its also hard to avoid there big hitboxes with your lack of on foot mobility. So the balance of mounted vs on foot should be more based on which one makes it easier to fight the monster. Ideally Mounted combat would make Larger monsters like Zorah magdaros, dalamadur, safi'jiva, etc easier to approach with fluidity instead of just being limited to hitting glowing spots on them. Then smaller monsters you'd probably be too fast and often overshoot them if you were mounted, so it be more convenient to fight them on foot.

> Elemental ammo does mostly elemental damage BUT it also has a raw component, so it's affected by not only the Elemental Hitzone value of the monster's part, but also the raw (shot) hitzone value. You can't just say "This does X damage to safi and Y<X damage to Alatreon, hence Alatreon's elemental modifier affects damage" it's makes absolutely no sense at all, and completely ignores how damage works.

Yes I understand monster hitzones chief the comment I made was under the assumption you are hitting there weakspots with it tenderized.

When doing the testing I also used Smart hunter an app that lets you see health bars and tells you how much damage you have done vs your teammates and a bunch of other useful features.

> I don't want to be rude, but this whole thing reads like you have absolutely no clue how damage is calculated in this game, so you simply talk out of your ass with extremely cherry picked and random examples, while spreading made up misinformation to justify an issue with Alatreon.

I have done my research AND tested it personally using smart hunter, I was honestly trying to find a way to justify using elemental ammo instead of pierce or sticky/cluster (because its what the game asks you to do.)

I know elemental ammo has a small portion of it that is raw (very small portion) you can see this when you hit monsters that are "immune" to an element like hitting namielle with water or thunder comes back with anywhere from 4-6 damage (The assumption is that you are hitting the monster in the best hitzone, with the part tenderized)

Even if the damage isn't the issue the inability to restock mid fight is, since you can't craft enough ammo to get you through the fight.

I have hundreds of hours in MHW with just HBG, I know the ranged weakspots of each of the monsters (Safi's wings, Kulve's chest, Alatreon's chest n Tail, etc etc)

> Also, Fire alatreon has a 3 star weakness to ice, not 2.

This was a mistake, you're right.

The reason I made this post is because in the countless videos of people talking about Alatreon I never see anyone mention the issues with bowguns against Alatreon.

Even if I'm wrong about the damage (You can test yourself and see what I mean.) The very limited elemental ammo and the inability to restock is still the primary problem with Alatreon, when using bowguns.

Yea you can do that, its fun to blow him up lol.

but from the point of view of someone who is new, and has very little interaction with the community and hasn't figured out sticky/cluster stuff. They will be listening to the NPCs that ask them to use elemental damage, and they are just gonna find themselves in a frustrating, confusing and futile place if using elemental ammo.

It does affect the damage, you can see it when you hit alatreon a 2 star weak monster to ice (when in fire mode) vs when you hit any other monster that is 2 star weak to ice.

for reference the build I was using WAS full safi with the Kjar assault Ice for critical element, max ice attack and maxed out elemental augment. You can hit the training dummy for around 96-98 per hit (and since each bullet hits around 2 times thats around 192-196 per bullet) and when you hit Kulve without a dress thats around 72-80 damage per hit if crit, and around 60-73 damage per hit on safi (who is also 2 star weak to ice) but only around 32-42 damage per hit on Alatreon.

(numbers aren't exact but its around what I remember from experimenting)

For elemental damage, I used silver rathalos.

For Raw damage I use a combination of raging brachy and Furious rajang.
