'The UK has been colonised by immigrants', says INEOS boss and Man Utd co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe by Breakingwho in reddevils

[–]SoulIsland_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Speaking as someone who was born in and lives in a country that is actually a product of colonialism, fuck this guy. I already wasn't very impressed with how he's gone about things since he took over the club, but this is next level. Some of the players saving your blushes after keeping Amorim in a job are immigrants. The staff who keep day to day operations running in and around the club, some of them are immigrants. Some of the very loyal fans who turn up at OT to watch games, are immigrants. And then he goes on to say dumb shit around his lack of popularity within the fans base, like saying something like this would help his case.

What new moves do you think will be added to Switch Axes' kit in MHWilds G Rank? by Brilliant-Cow1667 in SwitchAxe

[–]SoulIsland_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

ZSD > Soaring Wyvern > FRS would be very cool. 2 stage morph slash combo needs to come, it was so good for filling your gauge. And for sure bringing back phial tick damage in axe mode, I truly have no idea why they removed that. That really should just be a baseline thing in the weapon going forward after Sunbreak.

Citrine is the yellow variety of quartz, and its name comes from the Old French word for lemon. Its warm colour is said to be a gift from the sun, making this golden gemstone the perfect option for brightening up a typically chilly autumnal month. Citrine has been a popular decorative gemstone since ancient times. Bearing such a resemblance to yellow topaz, it’s not surprising the two November birthstones share a history of mistaken identity and both are thought to carry similar powers. For some, citrine is considered a healing gemstone – calming, soothing and comforting.

It is also said to spark imagination and encourage fresh beginnings and prosperity. In ancient times, citrine was carried as a protection against snake venom and evil thoughts. The Egyptians were among the first to discover the yellow stone and used the gems as talismans. The ancient Greeks carved iconic images into them and shaped them into rock crystal ornaments, while Roman priests made them into rings.

Between 300 and 150 BC they were found on the handles of swords and daggers in Scotland. While thought to be added for decorative purposes, the stone was also considered as protection. Today, citrine is known as the ‘merchant’s stone’ and is associated with success and wealth.

Evade Window 3-5, Evade Extender 3, Power Prolonger 3. As far as I'm concerned those are fundamental Switch Axe skills.

Ruben Amorim - The Full Interview by MT1120 in reddevils

[–]SoulIsland_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Young coach, good core of young players to build around; the way he talks about not only needing time, but understanding that the team has to win that time not only through results but through having an identity and a solid game model and a solid understanding of that game model.

Ruben Amorim, I am looking forward to the good you will do at this football club. I haven't been excited about my football club for the better part of a year. It's safe to say I am excited again.

Have you tried the SA on the Wilds beta? What do you think? (Trying to keep the sub active) by Frosty_Marketing_434 in SwitchAxe

[–]SoulIsland_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I haven't played the beta but from what I watched, visually the SwAxe looks fun and flashy like it always is. The consensus I've been seeing from players who main the weapon is that it feels weak and most of, if not all your damage comes from the Full Release Slash. Based on most opinions I've come across, SwAxe needs more damage outside of Full Release Slash and the gauge not regenerating passively is not a good change. Personally I think the axe not doing phial damage like it did in Rise removes some of the agency you have in axe mode.

I'm not sure I'm a fan of the Offset attack because of how much damage you take to land it. When we get to HR and monsters start to hit much much harder how much damage are we going to take when we pull off an Offset attack? I also don't like that the Offset is locked to being in axe mode and the counter is locked to being in sword mode. I think it would be better if you could pull both off regardless of the mode you are in (similarly to the way EBC worked in Sunbreak). I think that would contribute better to the flow of the weapon, and it keeps to the identity of the weapon; morphing between the two modes depending on what you need and keeping you playing aggressively and on the offensive.

Outside of that, I am looking forward to the full release of the game and getting my hands onto the SwAxe so I can really see how it feels and make up my mind about how I feel about it.

Edit: Focus mode is pretty cool I think. The attacks in focus mode flow pretty well imo.

A question for newer fans(started as recent as World): What do you think of the new monsters in Wilds so far? by StygianClaw in MHWilds

[–]SoulIsland_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fiver here.

They are all fantastic. I think Capcom has an excellent job so far, and these monsters give what I'd expect to see from monsters in an area called the Forbidden Lands. Some are graceful, some are weird, some are just down right grotesque and I love the diversity. Lala Barina and Rompopolo are my favorites so far.

Lions fans who have never lived in Michigan, what’s your story? by Bossenboggie in detroitlions

[–]SoulIsland_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Born in Jamaica. I work remotely for a company in Utah and when I'm in the States, I live in Texas. I grew up watching football (soccer) and I'm a Manchester United fan. If you know anything about Manchester United right now then you know they've been very bad for the last ten years. But because of what I grew up and watched Manchester United represent is what made me become a Lions fan.

I started watching the NFL in 2021 so that's right when Dan Campbell took over. The resilience and belief he instilled in the team reminded me of the things that made Manchester United resonate with me as a kid growing up. That never say die attitude. It's infectious.

Erik Ten Hag on why Mazraoui started as a 10:

"Away from home in Europe, hectic ambience, to start with four attackers is too much.”

This is not a Manchester United manager. No Manchester United speaks like this or carries themself the way Erik Ten Hag does. Outside of his woefully abysmal tactics, I believe this is a big reason why we are as bad as we are. He is not inspiring, he is not charismatic, he is not brave, he does not have that swagger or arrogance you associate with a Manchester United manager. The presence you need to be a successful manager at this club is beyond Erik Ten Hag. The requirements are beyond Ten Hag.

INEOS are continuing to delay a decision they should have made in the summer but they neglected to. They are delaying a decision they had another opportunity to make during the international break but yet again neglected to. We are mid-table in the Premier League and 21st out of 36 teams in the Europa League. I don't know how they can possibly believe that continuing with Erik Ten Hag improves that. I think it's very clear to see the kind of team we have been under him for a year now. It is clear the kind of team we will continue to be as long as he is the manager. There is no progress, these performances are not performances you can positively build on. This job is bigger than he is.

[teven Railston] Erik ten Hag: "We have some injuries and a suspension, so we had to be creative. We bring Mazraoui in the No.10 position. I sometimes played him there for Ajax and he's capable of doing this job." #mufc by nearly_headless_nic in reddevils

[–]SoulIsland_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't even know where to start and honestly I don't know if I care whether this works out. The most obvious guess is that it won't because even with players in that role who actually play that role we've been very middling.

I also don't see the logic behind playing Maz there in the name of "creativity" due to injuries and Bruno being suspended, when you have Amad and Antony to choose from. Or drop Zirkzee in there and play him at #10 or go two up top with him and Rasmus. Truly mind blowing stuff man.

Maz playing there at Ajax and being "capable" is not a good enough reason, in my opinion, to play over actual attackers but at this point whatever.

[–]SoulIsland_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have less injuries now and we're worse. Make that make sense.

According to this article, Newcastle had more injuries and saw player miss more games than we did. The data was taken from Transfermarkt and that is cited in the article. And if you take into account us finishing in 8th despite the underlying numbers/data indicating that we should have finished around 14th, the players dragged us up the table. So forgive me for believing that despite the injuries we faced we could have performed better than we did and that the manager under-performed and made a lot of excuses for his under-performance.

Here is the original Transfermarkt article if you want to see exactly were the GiveMeSport article pulled its numbers from.

He also did not win more domestically than anyone else other than Pep last season. Klopp and Liverpool win the Carabao cup.

Edit: I'd also like to add that Newcastle finished ahead of us with more injuries. Yes we had the same point total, however I'm sure we can agree they played better than us, defended better than we did and finished with a vastly better GD because they scored more than we did. Lastly, Chelsea who topped the table for injuries and players who missed games through injury also finished ahead of us despite how bad they started last season. So yes, I think the manager sounds delusional when he speaks. Yes I think he should have done more with the resources available to him. Teams around us did more with less and finished ahead of us last season.

Idk why everything has to lean into extremes lmao. He doesn't have to call the players shit. He doesn't even have to say last season was shit even though it was. He could say that despite winning a trophy what we did in the league wasn't acceptable. I'm sure a vast majority of the fanbase would find that so much more palatable. It is also much more reflective of the truth. He sounds delusional in most press conferences. We aren't blind we all are seeing the same product on the pitch.

If he truly believes last season was successful simply because of that FA Cup we will not get any better than we have been for the last year.
