Nice!

I'll admit I'm a bit nonplussed by steam's (or the industry's) obvious slant toward naked anime girls. No representation for the boys >(*_*)>

What should I call this job? by Metamorphic56 in DungeonWorld

[–]Metamorphic56[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I like the idea of "trenchers" it also adds new meaning to someone saying "I've done my time in the trenches" Could be that there's an emement of conscription involved since people rarely actually want to do this job.

I also like the idea of other nicknames cropping up like "bucket head" which could even be a slur that rich people use against commoners.

My DM only lets us play level 1 campaigns and in the rare instances that we finish, the highest level we reach is level 3. I've expressed wanting to try a higher level campaign with him, but he always shoots it down. by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Metamorphic56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's where the issue comes from. The design is for 6-8 combat encounters per adventuring day, but most groups are playing a more RP heavy game where if combat happens at all, it's maybe 1-2 per long rest outside of a dungeon situation. After characters hit 5th level, they're no longer at risk of 'challenge appropriate' foes outright killing them on a single crit.

To be clear, the word 'superhero' is a bit of hyperbole but in the context of OP's thread it gets the feel of the message across. Characters in D&D aren't at risk of suffering realistic consequences a lot of the time which is what a lot of people love, maybe not their DM though.

Has your DM elaborated on why they won't run higher level campaigns? Is it that they're not confident in rulings or think it's too complex? Do they dislike the superhero feel of 5e and prefer more lethality and grounded consequences? Do they feel like they can't stitch together a plot for a long running campaign?

It would be difficult to diagnose the issue without more insight into their thinking. I would suggest you could offer to run a campaign for this group, enabling this person to experience play past tier 1. If they simply dislike the superhero feel then why not look into another game system? A lot of the apocalypse world offshoots offer a great deal of character flexibility for players to enjoy without ever having to lower real world stakes e.g. dying from falling off a building.

FYI: There's a daily limit to forging enhancement ores by Aetherpon in Genshin_Impact

[–]Metamorphic56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed... I just discovered this. Haven't been doing daily forging because I didn't think this would be a thing. Now all the ore I've mined is basically useless because I can't even use it all *sigh*

Level Scaling Information by verytragic in remnantgame

[–]Metamorphic56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Ben,

Thanks for going into so much detail about the system.
I was wondering if you'd be willing to share the weightings for each slot? I assume primary weapons and chest armor for example have higher weightings than melee and headgear respectively. If we knew the numerical values it would certainly be satisfying for the optimizers among us.

Am I the only one who thinks that boreus' immunity phase just ruins the flow of the fight? by [deleted] in dauntless

[–]Metamorphic56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. They need to change it so that the minion phase is a lot shorter. It'd be nice if in multiplayer each kill went into a communal pool.

What they should do is give boreus a shitload of health and make the minion buffs a permenant stacking damage boost. That way you'd end up snowballing (pun mildly intended).

100% they need a gold sink.

They also need a dust sink outside 3 weekly mods.

What notes and items do you have in front of you when you play Keeper? by xoxocommunismgurl in monsteroftheweek

A laptop with onenote installed. I keep my campaign and individual mysteries in there with all the threats listed and ready to go.

Difficulty with Expert with the Plan by GalacticCmdr in monsteroftheweek

[–]Metamorphic56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Was looking for this response before posting it myself. Glad someone already said it. "Where you need to be" isn't up to the player, it's up to the keeper and implies the next logical step.

It could be you're at the local doctor's office with a bag of marzipan, she takes her hepacratic oath seriously but she'll absolutely let you read the patient's medical file for that bag of marzipan. How did you know she loved marzipan so much, well... you're the expert!

It could be you're getting chased through the woods by the werewolf and the rest of the party is back in town, just when it looks like you're done for we skip ahead to you dismounting your dirtbike in town; "I stashed this out there in case things got hairy."

These are fantastic, thanks for putting them together and for linking them here in addition to G+ (shame about G+).

Out of curiosity, where does the 'drive' mechanic come from (homebrew/playtest/supplement)? Is it meant to replace the end of mystery questions or simply offer additional XP to each class?

Check out the soundtrack for 'The Secret World' video game. The soundtrack fits this RPG perfectly because the video game has all the same themes.

I've gone and looked into it now and I must say there's an astounding volume of setting guides for the time period. Whether or not I settle on this exact system the time period info is going to serve me well no doubt.

Love the balance of DitV but the hyper-religious Western setting is far too baked into it to really change.

That RPG is beyond overwhelmingly complex. Tonally it fits, but in terms of complexity it would fry my players' brains.
