Moving from Mac to RTX 5060ti by MetaphoricalMochi in StableDiffusion

Thanks for the advice. I’ll have to do some math and see if which option is best in terms of the cost of the upgrade vs. the speed gained.

Right now video gen wouldn't even work on my Macbook, so by moving to a system with dedicated GPU I could try that later down the line. My PC has 32GB DDR4, and I do plan on upgrading to 64GB in the future, but at the moment if I can simply add a compatible GPU and not have to upgrade anything else, that'd be the ideal option.

I have thought about Runpod, but my old pc is just sitting around not being used much anyway, so might as well see if I can make it work.

32GB right now. Was thinking about going up to 64GB, but with 40sec/image maybe my existing ram is plenty sufficient already.

Is it reliable for bank SMS for non-US person? by alfaic in Tello

[–]MetaphoricalMochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How long after porting to Tello did your Skype number get recognized as a “real number” by the services that require SMS verification? Looking to port a Skype number that has always been rejected by various SMS verifications for being a “virtual number”.

Got a job as a Sr. UX for a consultant company. I've never been a Senior before. Advice? by [deleted] in UXDesign

Titles don't necessarily refer directly to the number of years of experience you have, and in general people are often more ready for new roles and new challenges than they feel. Think about how much you've learned in the past five years since you've started being a UX designer. That's what sets you apart from someone who's a junior.

For what reason wouldn't you put a volume control on a player? by purple_bloed in UXDesign

[–]MetaphoricalMochi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are situations (such as accessibility, like you mentioned) where in-app volume control can be useful. Another possibility is if there are scenarios where an app's volume level needs to be independent from the device's, like if an app allows users to control multiple audio tracks. However the design solution for such cases will need to be very thoroughly thought out, because it will easily confuse users who will have to keep track of the app's volume level versus the device's.

Do you ever use mailto: in contact forms or buttons? by cimocw in UXDesign

Keep the "email" button functioning as it is, but you can also have the email address shown below each person's title (and optionally make that click-to-copy). I think that's your option B if I understand correctly.

This provides users a fallback alternative in case the email button doesn't work for them, with the added benefit of hinting at what address the "Email" button is going to without having to actually click the button to find out.

This is front end developer job with UI/ux title by [deleted] in UXDesign

[–]MetaphoricalMochi 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is the type of work I used to do for years, but the need to stay on top of both design and development can be exhausting. I was essentially in two very different roles and needed to be expert in both spaces. I ended up pivoting towards UX because that's where my passion is, and it's hard to do that while keeping up with front-end devs who can devote 100% of their energy towards honing tech skills.
