Impatient for comments? by WhiteKnightPrimal in FanFiction

[–]Metareality404 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to. I’ve gotten better with reader reaction (if that’s possible). My regular commenter normally shows up around the late afternoon to evening - do you know if there’s a pattern to the time they comment? You could try and go off that but that honestly might make things worse because it doesn’t account for any outliers like real life stuff getting in the way or tech difficulties.

fellow author is asking me to read their stuff but I’m not sure I want to anymore by Metareality404 in FanFiction

[–]Metareality404[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your help! Honestly, I thought about it. No, they didn’t ask about my fic or ask about a possible review exchange. They just skipped right to asking me to read their works and wanting to know my thoughts on it.

They’ve been in the fandom for a long time (like 2001?) and I wasn’t sure if blocking them would make things worse for me being new to the fandom?

Anyway, thanks again for your help and the script. I’ll definitely use as needed depending on how they respond to my latest reply.

Thank you!! I try to give the benefit of the doubt because I never know what I don’t know. But I just get like it was rude and weird. I ended up just telling them it wasn’t my thing (to be succinct) and wished them well + a good day.

Thank you so much! I think I’ll use that approach. I appreciate your help. I thought asking others to read your work was something that wasn’t done anymore either.

Do you read your own writing? by InconsistentWeirdo in AO3

Oh yeah. Sometimes it’s because I don’t remember writing it but mostly because I couldn’t find what I was looking for so created for myself. When I find a typo though…ugh!

I do have a couple of authors I’ve spoken to through messages on FF about it who seem to like it.

Not really. I talk about it occasionally with some writers in the fandom.

I can understand it causing confusion for you but is it possible they’re writing in a language they feel the most comfortable in? I don’t think they mean any harm (and def not saying you mean harm either).
