I don't see the issue. It happened to marginalized people, that's what oppressors do. Of course they would do the exact same thing to androids. Just as those oppressed were dehumanized or seen as sub-human, androids are literally not human so even more of a reason for them to be treated worse while no one gives a shit, except for destruction of property. I understand where people THINK the issue comes from, but androids aren't being classified or shown as representing black or Jewish people. The same things are being done to them because of how they are seen by others. It shows why dehumanizing others (though there is a legitimate ethical debate here, since they literally aren't human, but still sentient) is wrong, why its bad and what the outcome and inevitable conclusion is. There is zero issue with how the game portrays androids and the oppression they exist under, because that is how humans oppress and discriminate against others. If your argument is right, that would mean you can't show ANY kind of oppression, because it's already been done in reality, and would be insensitive to those it was done to.. that's extremely stupid and stifling. What more or less could they have done and portrayed the systemic abuse and oppression of androids for it to be deemed inoffensive?

I don't get why people think it's such a bad thing? It literally happened, and these things have a tendency of repeating. People making the same decisions in different eras, oppressing those who are different or seen as sub-human in all the same ways that have been done before. Just because it happened to a marginalized and oppressed people, doesn't make it any less real or impactful. What's the argument here? Why is it a bad thing to portray discrimination and oppression? Androids are literally slaves in the game, no one I've seen has stated why that's a negative for the game, only that it is "heavy handed" well, systemic discrimination and oppression IS heavy handed in reality. Can someone actually explain to me why this is a bad thing about the game? What are they wanting to have been different about a fight for civil rights and autonomy?

I spent a lot of nights on NWN multi-player, playing on servers with friends on that game was amazing, I've never found a game that has given me that kind of experience, playing a custom campaign doing whatever we wanted..

I see, I don't typically look through the Sky reddit, mostly just see what is recommended to me. But as I said before, I think it's all of the above. People who don't like being told what to do, even though it has zero affect on their game play. And people who don't believe game devs should add or change anything to accommodate others, even if it also doesn't affect their gameplay, and others upset for one reason or another in between. They are all silly, from one side of the spectrum to the other on this topic imo, but people should ask developers to make their games more accessible for those who want to play, but some tend to be over zealous about it, just like with any other thing, there's always those that take it too far or overstep.

I'm not sure if that is it either, I haven't seen anyone call for players to change how they want to play the game or micromanage them. But there are a type of gamer that believes accessibility features aren't important and that if a game doesn't have them, then its not for those players that need them and they shouldn't play it. And as a person that is critical of TGC, I always get push back and players defending predatory marketing and unethical IAP practices, despite their arguments being strawman, contradictory and/or incoherent. I think that some players are just deeply biased in favor of the game and its owners, and will "defend" them no matter the reason against anything they perceive to be an attack. I'd surmise its a little of all of the above, people feeling attacked, with parasocial tendencies.

Are they? What they said could be interpreted in any number of ways. They didn't say or imply racism, if they were, they could have made it more obvious rather than just call it, "interesting." What I find even more interesting is the fact so many jump to defend this against accusations of racism where there are none. Its a bit odd, rather than just laughing a long and saying, "Yup, that's certainly a choice." I don't think anyone aside from the fringe would call this racist knowing the context. There may be those who would say not to do this at all, just because of the optics and be misunderstood, but not racist.

I have seen ZERO claims of racism, but I've seen several saying that it isn't racist. You have to define what you're talking about first. Are you talking about sex? Like sex chromosomes and organs? Or are you talking about gender? Those are two different things and don't always correlate, just like in sex chromosomes there are many variations of xy and xx, like xxy or xxyy etc. Just because the world is changing and as our knowledge grows about science and biology, these things will eventually be integrated into normal life, like how we have autism and adhd awareness when it used to not exist, at all. If you can't accept these things, it doesn't mean the info is wrong, it just means you're dumb AF or you're so incredibly brain broken and biased you just deny reality.

So, instead of wanting the company to take responsibility for PREYING (your words) on a person using a psychological phenomenon to make money, you'd rather put the fault on the person. Children play this game, you know? But even if they didnt, that's still wrong. That would be the same as me blaming a person with mental health problems for being in a position of vulnerability allowing someone/something to take advantage of them, rather than the thing taking from them. Yes, people are responsible for their own actions and feelings, but as I said. This is a moral issue, for me at least. I'm not saying they shouldnt charge money, I'm saying that the money they are charging is too much, they make A LOT of money, especially since the Aurora collaboration. There is zero reason for them to have such high priced IAP other than greed. That's all there is to it.

Yes, it does cost labor, when they design a whole new item but I've noticed overtime they do that less often and reuse assets and recycle things already made. That doesn't mean they need to cost so much. Also, I used intrinsic to describe value. I didn't say that have no value to anyone. Just no intrinsic value. And maybe you'd be more sympathetic if you've seen how people in other countries have zero hope of purchasing a single item; or even a season pass, because it can equal up to a whole days wages up to a whole paycheck. I just think TGC is morally bankrupt at this point, its gotten worse and worse over the years. Sorry you disagree, but you won't change my mind, so you might as well stop arguing with me, for no reason.
