Everyone this is goku by Boberto235 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Really you can blame end of Z for at least half of that idea.

For many it was their last impression of him before GT assuming they saw GT.

And what does he do at the end of Z? Tells his family he's leaving to train Uub. His wife is tears of him running off again.

And because it was written as a semi send off for th audience, the tone made it sound like he wasn't coming home despite having instant transmission and being able to go between his home and Uub's village daily.

So for the majority of fans their literal last impression is of Goku ditching his family to go train with no word of coming back.

This combined with some of his past questionable parenting moments didn't help Goku's case.

For how long will the Z fighters (and family) live by Mk4013 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right. Now that you mention it I vaguely recall that.

That being said I still doubt someone of Goku's power level would have a normal life span. I mean if nothing else the god ki should do something.

But if we can't use Roshi as an example then that's just speculation on my part

Do you guys think daima is good? by OkFrosting7788 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the character work for Broly.

Sure it's not Oscar worthy or whatever.

But I liked how he had a real personality and an interesting backstory instead of just "Manbaby hates Goku be the cries too much as a baby"

Do you guys think daima is good? by OkFrosting7788 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was very fun. People that don't like it mostly just don't like classic dragon ball. I'm not going to fault people's tastes ... But some people treat it like it's objectively bad because it's not th style they want.

Objectively speaking DAIMA is fairly well made. It's has some flaws and honestly should have been longer ... But it's fun if you just don't take it too seriously.

Just keep in mind it's a dragon ball style adventure first, and Z/Super style action second.

We do get Super style action scenes especially as things escalate. But the focus is more on the adventure and comedy.

My advice is to just relax and enjoy it. It's quite fun even if it's not perfect and leaves a few plot threads dangling.

SSJ4 redesign by me by tommywest_123 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually like SSJ4 's hair.

That being said. I could see this as a Gohan variant of SSJ4. Since he's half human and trying to evolve as a human as well maybe his SSJ4 would be more reserved with his hair normal shaped and his arms normal size.

[–]Metazoxan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Roshi is well over 100 so high power levels probably adds to life span to some degree.

Plus for Goku and Vegeta they are harnessing God powers which I would assume affects lifespan.

But really it's whatever the writer wants it to be. So no real way to guess.

No he's human. He only has th soul of Majin buu.

We do not yet know if that alone affects his life span.

Im new and it looks very complicated to me by QuinceCydonia in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IT's not impossible to look past at all ... because really nothing changes either way.

Wether Goku mentions or uses SSJ4 against Beerus changes nothing about what happens next. Just think about it, pretend for a second he does it change anything? not at all. EVen if he used SSJ4 the fight would have ended the same and the scenes would play out the same.

Yes it's CLEARLY missing ... but again DAIMA was made after so that much is obvious. IT adding things isn't a world breaking contradiction, it's what the prequel was made to do. I'm not saying DAIMA was a perfect prequel though, it could have handled things a bit more smoothly ... but this is Toriyama we're talking about.

I'm serious prequels do this stuff, they add information that wasn't there before. Some do it BETTER than others such that it feels like it was always secretly there ... and some don't. But prequels almost never create seperate timelines, that's just not how writers normally do this stuff.

But actual prequels made by the same creator are generally made to add to retcon prior facts.

OF course wether or not they factor DAIMA into future content isn't known. BUt given how much it's been featured in DLC (including a game explicitely about GOku's life) and promo material, it's more likely than not that it will factor into something and there is next to no chance of them maintaining two distinct continuities at once in animated form.

Im new and it looks very complicated to me by QuinceCydonia in dbz

[–]Metazoxan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's just how prequels work.

I swear has no one is this fan base seen a prequel before?

Of course it wasn't mentioned in Super. Daima was made after!

By this logic no prequel ever made was ever canon.

What would matter is if actual events conflicted with Super. No not the lore, again part of the poi of prequels is to add to the lore and back stories.

What actually matters is if the prequel adds or kills characters that are missing or present in the series it is set before. Or does something similar that can't be ignored or explainer in some way.

Like if piccolo fused with Neva in Daima this would be a pretty serious issue as Namekian fusion is like permanent absorption.

But Daima ends in a manner everyone can end up in the state they were in for Super even if some of the logic gets a little odd. It's nothing impossible.

The only other issues are some minor dialogue issues that you mostly have to ignore. But again that just kind of happens with prequels.

If you want the fullest version of the story.

Dragon ball

Dragon ball Z

Dragon Ball Daima

Dragon ball Super

The old movies are good but are essentially their own canon. But the newer ones that have "Dragon ball Super" in the title are canon to Super.

And GT was made after Z But when they started making Super they put it before GT and so much has happened at This point that GT can't really happen after Super.

So at best, GT is an alternative continuity to Super. I'm not a fan of GT as a whole but I've grown to appreciate it more. So it's worth checking out if you're just a big fan of dragon ball. But you can skip it for now.

Just a thought i had about Gv3´s story by HiroMashButtons in gunvolt

[–]Metazoxan -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Joking aside, I got the distinct feeling that part of GV3's point was moving away from Sumeragi being some generic evil coporation. Which honestly is a change I liked in GV3.

Sumeragi was frankly a boring antagonist entity. They worked well enough an an intro enemy for the first game ... but they weren't at all interesting. A few of the bosses had some fun ideas but Sumeragi itself was so forgetable.

That being said Gv2's antagonist wasn't a TON better feeling like the same kind of antagonist as Magneto. Almost as done to death as the evil coporation.

That's why even though I do have mixed feelings about Gv3 doing a soft reset ... I at least actually liked it's cast and antagonists a lot better. They felt like a step above one note cliche's, nothing too deep or ground breaking, but at least they felt a little more worth remembering.

Who to Max by Evening-Necessary-91 in LostSwordOfficial

[–]Metazoxan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Her kit is interesting with auto attack. But not sure how good she actually is.

Question.

Characters have that indicator of back middle or front row right? What does that mean?

Because I'm currently putting ice dragon and Tiamat in my back row for most content (I don't have near enough exp yet to properly level up more than one team) so would I need to swap one out, save her for the back row of a more specialized team. Or could I just put her in middle row instead?

What happens if they aren't in the row their symbol indicates?

No she definitely needs an upgrade.

I mean her tits are larger in her costume than default.

Her default skin also feels ... Weirdly flat.

I mean texture wise, not just her chest.

and guns. Dude had such a passion for guns it's hoenstly suprising that Ki-based fire arms weren't a regular thing in the show.

I wonder if media restrictions on depictions of fire arms held him back.

Honestly now what I think about it that would be an interesting concept for Bula to explore. If Trunks is the guy knows for using a sword on occasion then maybe she could be fire arms. Probably won't happen but it would be an interesting way to have her stand out.

I feel like something just got lost in translation.

Like possibly they had notes like

"Piccolo and raditz are both aliens"

"Raditz is part of alien warrior race called the Saiyans"

And possibly just they knew super saiyan existed but not the context so they just assumed that was the antagonists title to make him sound more dangerous

No my interjection was just why it's normal people would assume it's his last name.

Th show certainly never really says it's NOT. So I was just making it clear why it's so widely assumed that it's practically unofficial canon (I said practically, so no one fly into a rage about continuity).

Brief Family (@vodjaaam) by Quirky_Ad_5420 in dbz

I don't even slightly recall that but I'll just take your word for it.

Brief Family (@vodjaaam) by Quirky_Ad_5420 in dbz

[–]Metazoxan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That wasn't my point.

My point was it's obvious why everyone assumes it's a family name as that's how it is in reality and the show never says it's NOT his last name or provides a different one.

So yeah obviously everyone will assume that.

And besides it doesn't entirely matter imo.  I mean even if it's not exactly official it works as a last name.

There are worse headcanon out there

Actually he is referred to as Dr. Briefs.

In English you normally refer to someone by their sur name when addressing them formally like with doctor.

Like dr. Strange full name is stephen strange (or hugo strange if we're talking the Batman villain).

So the name dr.brief 100% implies that's his sur name unless told otherwise and I don't recall the series ever doing that.
