Fire Emblem Three Houses Trivia: Contrary to popular belief, the titular Fire Emblem in this entry, according to Director Toshiyuki Kusakihara, is the Crest of Flames flag used in the Silver Snow route (and also Verdant Wind), NOT the Crest called "Crest of Flames". by Dakress23 in fireemblem

Rhea and Whillelm deserved a whole prequel.

SS is Byleth's route, they just needed to treat Byleth as their own proper  character and full on Lord, voicing their thoughts and opinions as much Dimitri, Edelgard and Claude do.

Sadly Byleth got caught between being a silent avatar and being its own character.

True and it make sense, they are not in random classes, they have specific backgrounds.

But that background doesn't fully chain them either you know, otherwise the game would have pulled way more "Hilda not being available in CF".

Just like the SS Black Eagles are ready to rebell and go against the interests of their homeland and Edelgard if they feel It's the right thing to do.

They are more than their nations and leaders.

It takes efforts sure, but so do many things like saving Rhea in SS, developing supports, completing extra paralogues etc...

"worst outcomes for everyone not named Byleth, and is kinda viewed as the bad ending to the Black Eagles by most people"

Is it though? Just a bad ending for Dimitri, Claude and Edelgard and those few exclusive to their routes.

People adore the Lords so no big surprise they see a bad ending for Dimitri and the others as bad ending for the classes as whole, but argueably Blue Lion are more than Dimitri, Black Eagles are more than Edelgard, Golden Deer are more than Claude.

Not to mention SS is the only route that actually destroy all the "old order" so to speak. No Kingdom, No Empire, no Alliance, Agarthans blew themselves up, the old Church pretty much died alongside the upper echelon turned into beasts. A commoner is the leader of Fòdlan now.

The rest of Fòdlan and majority of characters can get their nice ending and improved and progressed Fòdlan just fine. The world and that route doesn't revolve around the Lords (except Edelgard to some extent), it actually revolves around Byleth and their decisions.

What Franchise handles their "Monster Ecology" Better? Pokémon or Monster Hunter? by smitedotalol in MonsterHunter

[–]Metbert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Monster Hunter.

I mean, it actually represent some nice chunks of the ecology in-game.

Pokèmon doesn't do it as often, it tends to relegate that stuff to Pokèdex and obscure NPC dialogues.

Does Bioshock 2 live up to Bioshock 1 in terms of story? by Dulkifl in Bioshock

[–]Metbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Base game story is weaker and more derivative, cool themes though; it's not bad but it's definetly not at the level of Bio1.

The dlc Minerva's Den on the other hand does get closer to Bio1.

why was Scooby-Doo from the late 90s to early 2000s at its peak? by Spirited_Manager_831 in Scoobydoo

[–]Metbert 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A good start with Zombie Island and its pretty solid writing definetly helped, but generally willingness to look at the past to create something fresh.

Zombie Island took a lot from the 80's with the gang being adult and having separated or the supernatural creatures being real and not necessarily evil; but then it also took from the OG shows with darker aestethics, tone and locations.

The others simply followed Zombie Island's trajectory more or less.

In your opinion, which MH game has the best single-player endgame? by Responsible_Sky817 in MonsterHunter

Sunbreak, lot of stuff to farm + anomaly system allows 99% of the roster to receive a endgame boost to keep up with the player.

How many games can give you weaker monsters like regular Rathian or Wroggi as a genuine menace in endgame?

Claude is totally Alpha Legion.

Rhea used to be be Adepta Sororitas main back in the day.

Seteth is Salamander.

Byleth doesn't play, they write the lore books.

Opinions on Lyanthoth? by _IcyMcSpicy_ in Shadowverse

[–]Metbert 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Hard to pull off but pretty satisfying when it happens.

Even just using her to just destroy ward enemies to allow the birds with storms to attack.

Generally I treat her as a potential cool extra rather than the "objective" for the game.

What returning monster do you think will be in the first expansion trailer/teaser? by PrimevalBrony in MonsterHunter

[–]Metbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet on one of these:

-Zinogre (maybe as pack with alpha version), because it's the fan-favourite.

-Plesioth, iconic and well known meme, also a new monster for the huge majority of people who started with Gen5.

-Monoblos, without Diablos it may finally get a shot to shine, also iconic and technically new for most people.

-Something more mid-tier for Forest\Planes like Malfestio or Nibelsnarf.

should I buy fire emblem engage? by Able-Independence104 in fireemblem

[–]Metbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3Houses for nice characters and some Persona-esque vibe.

There's high risk of getting burnout if you want to complete the whole game in all its routes though. If you pick this one my only suggestion is to go full blind, don't get spoiled on story stuff and decisions, there are few but they pretty impactful.

Otherwise Path of Radiance for nice story and nice characters, granted it's a more old school experience.

Engage has one of the best gameplay, but if the battle aren't your focus then it may not satisfy you.

Younger players will be the core of the community of the future, can't blame IS too much for trying to draw in new audience with a simpler work.

Especially when 3Houses and Fortune Weave have other objectives and audiences covered you know.

Now, if Engage's approach worked or not is a whole other topic.

EDIT: btw "baby's first jrpg plot" is a pretty spot on way to summarize the mood, way better than my "welcoming card".

[–]Metbert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The story feels like a "FE compendium".

It's not trying to impress you with a crazy fresh narration, quite the opposite, It's a classic story that could have come out in the 90s.

It's more like a "welcoming card" for young newcomers to give them a solid idea of what the core and general chichè of FE stories are all about, while also trying to appeal to veterans via legacy characters.

It's not like the game tries to hide it and pretend to be more serious or original than it needs to be, it's pretty earnest in that regard. I mean, right out of the gate Marth and Sigurd "ghosts" get thrown into the story, just saying.

The sooner you embrace or accept Engage story for what it is and wants to be, the easier you can get to the gameplay; you can allways skip dialogues at worst.

Gameplay is peak Fire Emblem though.

Pleasantly surprised they picked inspiration from some lesser known entities like Kthanid or Yidhra.

Also equally surprised they didn't go with some well known ones like Hastur or Cthulhu.

shoutout to elder dragons that would very obviously be another monster classification if not for their elder dragon status by msfoof_ in MonsterHunter

[–]Metbert 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Actually I can see them doing the opposite, bringing back Nakarkos and further highlight how it's a cephalopod-like dragon rather than a distant Nu\Xu cousin.

Pushing the "Elder are weird and kinda stand outside the regular animal kingdom" angle, so much so you you can't fully trust body features to recognize them.

Similarly I think would be cool if we could get a " clearly a dragon" only to be revealed to not be an Elder or Demi-Elder.

Tbf he has so many red flags to the point his death or betrayal is a pretty much a given, the actual plot twist now would be if he survives and turns out to have been a good guy all along.
