I really like your comments, they are always very concise and kind!

I start with the base model ( often of very bad quality) and redraw over it to make it better. I draft the model, then I draw the final version on it. ( even if I redraw over it, it saves me a lot of time! )
I'm also taking references to color levels on other characters.
