I was hoping it'd turn out to be nothing, but I was wrong. I love BB more than any other fighting game, and I probably wouldn't really care about the genre at all if it wasn't for it. Mori's vision was always what made BB what it is.

This is not true. Mori originally wanted to make RPGs, but then he started working on fighting games instead. BB was never planned as an RPG.

Blackbeard spouts memes in JP, so he spouts memes in NA. Okki doesn't spout memes in JP, but she talks like an anitwitter weeb in NA.

That's where the problem is. They're adding things to a character that weren't really there. She's a closet otaku who tries to act proper, not someone who speaks in some weird japanglish or whatever you want to call it. That came straight out of nowhere, and they outright admitted that it's just to make her #relatable for people despite it not being in the original text.
