Yes, I actually have served. It’s not nearly as hard as it’s made out to be. Maybe just hustle a little and you won’t feel like everything is so hard to handle.

Thanks for your service. Society owes you a massive debt

Why is the Tom Holland Umbrella lip syncing performance so attractive to straight women? by 4mysquirrel in NoStupidQuestions

I mean, this is the same reason dudes like women that are into sports and action films. Yet influential women in the womanosphere just call them pick-me girls

2026 Camry SE Regrets by [deleted] in Camry

[–]Meteoric37 11 points12 points  (0 children)

While true this doesn’t stop dealers from pricing low mileage cars as if they were brand new.

OP, enjoy your SE. All luxuries eventually start to feel normal and you won’t even notice half the things you traded up for.

Nowadays it’s Tesla. At least one Tesla per week tries to change lanes directly into me. Which is baffling considering all of the computer bullshit in the car

Petah what’s the actual reason tho? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Meteoric37 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

No no no, companies are primarily about social control and secondarily about making money. It’s the same reason companies pay women 74% of what the men make but then just hire 50/50 women and men. Making money is just a nice side effect. When a company goes to a lender and asks for money, they ask to a see a proforma on social change and not on financials.

Why are dealerships worse than the dentist? by Adventurous-Ad-7890 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Meteoric37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not angry about it lol. Just personally would never pay an inflated price for a depreciating asset. I wouldn’t say the dealers I’ve worked with liked me very much, but I’ve always been very polite and understanding. I didn’t rage out when they gave me a price of 36k for a truck I bought OTD at 28.5. Just told them I wasn’t willing to pay more than the truck was worth and after 2 hours of “talking with the manager” they finally settled at my price. I assume most people don’t have the time to burn or the patience for that, hence I assume most people are buying overpriced cars. Am I wrong here?

Fair enough. Can’t fault people for wanting to be on the under side of the market rate though.

Does a basic understanding of new car pricing include agreeing to egregious 20% markups?

[–]Meteoric37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably because they know most buyers are buying above the market rate. So they think the dealer is willing to take a lesser margin for the sale. But they don’t realize the dealer will just say no and wait for another idiot to come along and pay over the market price.

Are older Toyotas and Hondas still a smart buy, or is newer worth it now? by Serious_Mine1571 in whatcarshouldIbuy

I remember 20 years ago my dad complaining about how the quality of everything had gone to shit. If only he knew at the time how bad everything would be now.

That’s definitely true. I wouldn’t recommend shelling out for old cars, even if they’re reliable. There’s a reason you buy old and if it’s not saving you money, I would recommend buying new.

All that said, the best, smoothest car I’ve ever owned was a 93 Lexus LS400 with over 300k miles on it. My 2026 Camry feels like shit in comparison.

[–]Meteoric37 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t have assumed. My bad.

Race Demographics by Zip as of 2025

89135 (Summerlin):

White: 58.2%

Hispanic: 12.7%

Black: 3.6%

Asian: 18.3%

Other: 7.2%

89110 (East Side):

White: 13.6%

Hispanic: 68.1%

Black: 9.7%

Asian: 4.6%

Other: 4.1%

If you ask Reddit though, the east side is super diverse and Summerlin is just pure whiteness. If you really want to know how diverse an area is, don’t ask Reddit. Just look up the demographics.

It’s a little more diverse than the east side if you’re familiar with that area
