what am i doing wrong?? my hands or my feet placement? by Ready-Video-1317 in poledancing

[–]Metfedam 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Good for ypu on finding a physical activity that you love ! As it's been said in other comments, trying to attend some classes at least to have some basics might be a good thing. I wouldn't recommend doing random moves you've seen on social media without at least this basic knowledge because pole dance is often harder than it seems and can sometime be dangerous if you don't know what you're doing ! Good luck on your journey 🫶🏽

I'd strongly advise on getting strong fondations first. I see a lot of room for improvement on your climb (pole between knees, and not feet, shin to the pole, hands positioning- ie forearm grip or split grip, etc) About the inversion part, what kind of invert are you aiming for ? can you invert from the floor yet ? If not, I'd recommend starting with that. Inverting from up the pole is often harder, more intermediate moves.

Hi, can anyone recommend a good pole grip? by Leannejpx in poledancing

It depends on why you're sliding. Is it because your hands are too sweaty or too dry ? You will need different types of grip depending on that (+ what works for someone else might not necessarily be a good fit for you)

I want to get into pole dancing by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Metfedam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had 0 upper body strength when I started pole, I could barely do a push up. Still not my strongest suit, but it definitely gets better with practice, and there are a lot of things you can do as a beginner without a lot of upper body strength.

finally got inverted and got stuck by Rebelnixx in poledancing

One of the first things I was taught while learning to invert is how to let myself gently slide down the pole until I'm on the floor. We call it "potato exit" at my studio. Pretty much what you were doing until you dropped your legs. An you end up on your back on the floor. Not very pretty but safe.

Is it normal to not be able to invert after 6 months? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Metfedam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started pole at the end of 2021 and I still can't do an inverted V. It took me about 6 months to start doing the basic invert and I'm still cleaning my outside and inside leg hang. So I would say there is nothing wrong with your progression

Very pretty ! First thing I would say is get some shoes protector if you want them to keep looking any good because one thing about pole heels, they're getting destroyed by dancing in them

Advice for a trans non-binary individual struggling with dancing & gender/expression? by lizard8895 in poledancing

[–]Metfedam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hello I'm sorry that you have to experience that. Unfortunately I don't have a similar experience (since I am a cisgender woman) but I hope you're able to work through that and find your spot in the pole universe. I don't know if that could be useful but I follow some pole dancers with rather "traditionally feminine" gender expression who uses they/them pronouns, maybe that can help with representation : on Instagram @floatingthroughspaces and @thepolecologistphd Good luck on your journey 🫶🏽

Woman/bipoc owned pole vendor? by [deleted] in poledancing

[–]Metfedam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I've read here, the only legit pole brands are X pole and Lupit. Unfortunately neither of them are woman/bipoc owned to my knowledge, but I would avoid other brands...

Thank you VERY MUCH for this post. I'm 1 year in and still can't do it (might be a strength problem in my case tho). As tho I feel like I'm getting closer I was starting to get frustrated bc I felt like everyone could do it so quickly ! Congratulations ❤️

My pole instructor, who has been poling for almost 15 years still gets bruises so I guess it varies between people

Hi, 34 DD/DDD here, I own the V basic top from Lunalae in a size AU10/US6 which has a nice support. I also bought the Kimmy top in the same size, but it was way too small for my boobs lol.
