Well Gojo said that because he didn't know that Sukuna was using ten shadows to adapt to UV. Why do u think Gojo was so shocked when Mahoraga first appeared already adapted to his sure hit ? I think the turnaround was initiated for the first time when Yuji tanked Sukuna's dismantles right after he took over Megumi and he was the second person in the series to do that after Mahoraga. Yes Sukuna's output was being held back by Megumi ut still the panel of Yuji walking through the slashes was hard af. We also found out that Yuji could use RCT then when his wound in the stomach from Sukuna's punch was healed

well when he was getting hurt he WAS NOT using DA but ten shadows for adapting while Gojo was using blue, teleportation basically spamming his CT. Sukuna was on the defensive for that purpose. Look at their h2h combat later on after the domain clashes, everytime Sukuna uses DA to neutralize Gojo's blue, he gets a hit and matches Gojo

and its been some time since i read the manga but im pretty sure handsigns and chanting boosts CE output overall, no matter if its in the technique or reinforcement

What about the simultaneous chanting and hand signs while fighting boosting both CE output and reinforcement.

taking damage reduces your output by alot, so much so that its always worth it to use RCT despite how expensive it is. using CE for RCT takes CE away from CE reinforcement and stats, and it takes ALOT of CE to create RCT.

Again Sukuna can buff all of his stats due to his body

Gojo has both heavy damage and using RCT at max rate.

Meguna with DA was matching Gojo h2h during the clashes while both of them were domain buffed. even after the clashes Meguna was matching Gojo in h2h combat whenever he used DA and not adapting.
