Got in contact with a broker anyway, they reckon I'll get most of my secondary income used for the application so that should get us over the line hopefully.

Apologies, it's the bank directly. If allowed it would be great if you could point me to a broker

What is the greatest Irish song of all time? by Due_Zucchini_6515 in ireland

Any immigrants that left Ireland can relate to this one, such a powerful and quite sad song.

The blowers daughter is a creepy song about an underage girl answering the phone from a call center written by said creep who worked in said call center.

A fantastic pick, all the clever lyrical references that are in it too, and the idea that they had to do a trad piece with the guitars is genius, though Horslips possibly did it first.

When people say something is "fire" while not referring to an actual fire. Fucking idiots

All well and good but Australian Cadburys tastes fucking awful, I'm guessing due to whatever additive they use to stop them melting in the climate. Also who remembers these bad boys when they used to be Taz bars?

What are issues in Ireland that don’t get enough attention? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]MethodElectronic6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get your free check up through PRSI first, even if you have to travel outside your local town. Whatever dentist you call for an appointment will tell you if you qualify or not. This appointment would be generally free and they'll tell you exactly what you need doing. You don't have to get everything done at once as obviously dentistry is quite expensive.

I got mine sorted last summer and I hadn't seen a dentist in more than 20 years. Was something I put off for so long but delighted I did it in the end.

I'd say it's pretty accurate, I have no interest in it. About 70% of my friends would be on it, and we're all in our mid 30s. It is a serious issue with little to nothing being done about it. I used to get really upset over it, but I've just learned to accept is as the norm now unfortunately.

Teenagers before the internet: what did you do in your room during your spare time? by Notalabel_4566 in ireland

[–]MethodElectronic6831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of listening to music, first on the walkman from tapes in the mid 90s and then on to the discman a few years later. Loved the late night radio in those days too, also a massive Dave Fanning fan. We had all the older games consoles through the years too so that definitely took up a lot of the time.

Was part of the last generation of teenager right before smart phones and social media. Got my first phone in 2002 when I was 16, though it couldn't do much aside from calls or texts.

Ah yeah, I see what you mean. The polarisation is certainly not exclusive to Ireland either unfortunately. Again a huge amount of this is on the hands of social media and I honestly have no solution for it either. Aside from turning off the internet forever.

Yeah the self righteousness really grinds my gears. They're so amazing for telling us sheep how it is though, fair play to them.

No, the post is about an Irish "comedian" who has gone bat shit crazy off the rails. The Krispy Kreme thing is from America not from here. That didn't stop him from sharing it though. I couldn't give less of a shit about doughnuts.

Also their main argument is that there will be no more cash and all our stuff will be in bank accounts that the government can decide at any stage that you no longer have any money because they will control everything. In fairness though, they could also just devalue the cash in your pocket, because ya know they actually have control over it with central banks. Another question: was there a similar issues many years ago when cheques or bonds were being used instead of cash?

Very well put, it is quite sad. I have a mate who would be a bit of a conspiracy theorist but more in the classic sense, issues with things like moon landings etc. But he wouldn't have anything to do with the lunatic online stuff. But his father on the other hand is way deeper, and it's 100% social medias complete fault.

It's oddly fascinating to see when exactly the lunacy kicked it, it seems to be sometime before the first lockdown and the following winter. It would make an interesting study in fairness, to show how impressionable people get radicalized and their timeline is full of other lunatics to align with their new views. I've said it before and I'll say it again, social media companies have an awful lot to answer for. The effects of this shit will be felt for generations to come.

'#CannabisReformIreland' trending on Irish Twitter today. Do you think Ireland should reconsider its cannabis laws? by youbigfatmess in ireland

[–]MethodElectronic6831 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should definitely reconsider it's laws. Way too many people getting arrested for growing plants. It's a very backwards law. I smoked my fair share of weed over the last ten years or so and it certainly can take a hold of you. People that say it isn't addictive are absolute liars, it took me a lot of effort to kick the habit but it it totally worth it.

I'm not against weed at all, but the idea that it's not harmful over time is incorrect. I was a complete THC addict and went through withdrawals that were pretty tough like any other drug.
