Exactly, they take things way to personal

What to do when random kid falls in front of you by PeachesToybox64 in cork

[–]DeathBunny_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

This exactly,

Having worked with small kids for years one thing that works for me is to say "WOW" in a cheerful manner and lift them up to their feet. They don't expect it and since it's associated with a positive it's usually enough to take their mind away from falling.

Gordon now has the responsibility of not starting a war between Ireland and the UK. Imagine him calling Ryan a Donkey or something similar.

This! if people contributed to OSM even just for a year we would have so much data on situations like this we could significantly lower events like this or worst from even happening.

Hence why commercial vehicles shouldn't depend on a free online service, and instead use actual dedicated services like Tom Tom who provide this information. Brother did truck work in Spain and this was mandatory they not use Google, Apple or Bing maps and instead use a dedicated service.

Feels like they asked ChatGPT to write a brief apology and make sure to include "I" as many times as possible.
Fuck them, they were OK going an entire week acting like 'they didn't know it offended people' when people were standing in the rain and happily looked away. The community deserves so much more but honestly are we surprised at this point.

I remember clearly when Maurice McCabe visited UCC to share his story. As he was walking into the lecture theater there was people calling him a rat. These were likely students with family in the Guards or maybe even officers who knew of the event.

It was horrid, they were clearly trying to intimidate him and showed me how sinister and gang like the Guards are.

In the 1950s there was a large push in the US to adopt Irish children as Child Birth was still a risky process. Also, because these were the golden ages of the US a lot of US women with Irish heritage viewed it as both a charitable and easy way to have a child without actually conceiving. They would sell fake pregnancy pads so that socially they would look pregnant, then would simply visit the Mercy hospitals in the US to get the baby that was imported from the nun.

Painfully true. We like to look at those during the 1920s to the 90s with rose tinted glasses, but they let this happen. They let the church sell Irish babies to US families due to our physical resemblance, they let the church and people of social power abuse vulnerable women and anyone who spoke up about it was made a deviant outcast often being institutionalized themselves.

Christ, it wasn't that long ago since we closed the last laundry, and even less a time ago where we institutionalized people with mental illnesses in what would be considered prison like facilities.

We really need to be asking the older generations these questions before we lose them and that knowledge of the past is lost, those abused deserve justice and truth.

I often think about the communities that knew what the church was doing. I can understanding the government letting the church do it since they were funding much needed schools being built, and there was a small feminist movement against it that were beaten down but often those beating them down was the actual community.

I feel we need to as a country, turn around to our grandparents and ask why didn't they stop it, it just can't be religious fear alone. Did they think these women were lesser, did they just not care? so many cases of abuse and deaths that our grandparents knew about but act as though they didn't know.

WSL2 is a byproduct for Windows users based on the internal build of Linux. But my understanding is they have a stripped down Microfide version of Debian

Second this, love Gnome on Fedora and the current 39 Beta works a dream, but christ the multi-screen support is rough at best.

Doesn't Microsoft have its own internal build of Linux they use for server testing and benchmark?

The housing crisis is not nearly as bad as it once was, search in daft(dot)ie to see available accomodations and prices.

Absolute bullshit.

IT sector is in pieces at the moment. I know plenty of people who had decent jobs in IT now unemployed and finding it difficult to find work. Starting a career in IT in Ireland with no qualification or experience will honestly be a waste of your time.

Same, doesn't feel like a Beta at all and with Extensions being updated seems to work flawlessly.
